Update:
2000 grit paper works magic with some time and elbow grease. Per Bigragu's advice I also deburred the rim lightly as well as the gauge port hole, where sure enough a tiny burr was obvious! Thanks Bigragu! Removed the valve as well for easier and thorough cleaning and good thing, there was a small piece of the broken oring as well as a tiny pvc crumb in there.
Following the pull through barrel cleaning thought pattern, I used some new microfiber rags and some 50lb test monofil whipped to the end, soaked the rag in 95% alcohol to clean. have to twist the rag a little for feeding but worked perfectly. Repeated the process for drying and a superlight coat of silicone oil. All parts went in like butter.
Now to air up and start the chrony process. Does it ever end? LOL
