Mueller 8-32x44?

Would love to hear members thoughts on this scope and the Mueller name.

I'm specifically interested in it for Field Target. How well does it range? How clear is it, compared to xyz? Are the turrets repeatable enough to be confidently used? Is the mil dot reticle too thick, too thin, etc? Dark and dim to look through or nice and bright? Etc etc.

How about Mueller in general? I could find some comments online that it's Japanese glass, but maybe manufactured in China....? Are Mueller's just another low budget Chinese scope or high quality, well respected scopes? Is Mueller more Leapers-like or Weaver-like?

I asked a good friend who's been involved with shooting and hunting since before I was born what he knew about Mueller and all he knew was that they've been around a long time. With all the flash in the pan Chinese scope companies that I've seen come and go in the few years that I've been into airguns, having been around a while seems like a good thing.

I see that ScopeWerks has a custom side wheel for it, which suggests that somebody somewhere thought it was a good Field Target scope. I like the price and the size and the fact that it doesn't weigh 30+ ounces and can focus down to 10 yards. I would greatly appreciate any experiences and or opinions on the scope and company, from an airgun specific audience.

Frank, I own two of them, one with cross hairs and one with mill dot.I have used them on both .22 and high powered rifles along with PCP rifles. The clarity is as good as you will find in a scope of that price range as far as I have seen and I have looked through many. the reticle on the mil dot scope is thicker than I like but is fine enough for F/T work, the other one is finer but just cross hair. both of mine repeat perfectly and when range finding there is a good bit of room between yardage marks on my Scopewerks wheel as I am the guy he built the first one for.( GREAT work on the Quality of the wheel by the way) It seems to range pretty well on 16 power as I used it for hunter class for a short time. I have used it for bench rest shooting quite a bit (cross hair version) and if you turn it up to the higher power settings it dose become less bright but not terrible but that's the case with any of the cheaper scopes I have ever looked through. I currently use a Sightron F/T specific scope for F/T and there IS a big difference in all aspects of the two scopes but you could buy five Muellers for the price of the Sightron. If you are just starting out in F/T and are not sure if you are going to stick with it I don't think you will be sorry that you bought the Mueller, that said if you are a serious shooter buy once cry once as they say and step up to something higher end. I hope this helps you make your decision!! J.L.

I have a few,I read that they are German designed and made in China, for the price they are good scopes, plus I never pay retail.

They are lighter than most "budget scopes".No problem shooting out to 100yards with them.

I think you would have to pay a lot more for a better scope....or you can research more and buy a "used" better scope.

Bottom line I am happy with Mueller scopes.
