Because I apparently experienced a Pink Floyd'ish "Momentary Lapse of Reason" (lol) and took apart my perfectly good little .177 slugger to have a foray back into .22 land and MRD's . . . it's back - and it's back with a vengeance. ( @Vetmx - yeah - I built it back up - lol )
It's a previously enjoyed RTI P1 Performance that I bought from one of the guys in here (Douger I believe) that I modded into a .177 via a barrel kit that I picked up AOA. It likes 13g JSB KO's @935 / reg (now) at 145'ish bar. It's pretty much dead on out to 70-80 yards and holds groups . . . with in an inch and a half pretty decently out to 100. I typically use it inside of 70 anyway and don't often push it out to longer ranges. It's efficient too - I don't know what the actual shot count is but I can easily get 6 or so magazines out of it.
Anyway . . . I went to one of my permissions today planning on going inside of an old barn with my little detuned p-rod to go after some pigeons. I got there and there were 4 or 5 pigeons all sitting up on top of the roof at about 50 yards. I grabbed this little slugger - the p-rod wasn't gonna do that - not with the 15yd zero on I have it and 10'ish ft/lb tune . . . lol. I cock and load the RTI and get ready to take one of 'em out and . . . poof! They all fly away - " . . . {sigh} c'mon man . . . " "Well damn -- now I've got this thing loaded - I'll go into the barn and just be sure to have a good back stop if I do see any pigeons in there . . . "
I get into the barn, step around a corner and "Whoa!!" - there's a chuckie!! Holy crap!! Chuckie bolts into a hole right behind where I saw him. I've got my sticks . . . I just stand there - get the gun nice & comfy on the sticks. Dial the scope back to an eyeballed 13'ish yards (I forgot my rangefinder) - parralex focus about confirmed my guestimated range and I also dialed the zoom on the scope back to about 10x and then I just stood there. Knowing chuckies like I do . . . I knew so long as I didn't move or make any noise he'd eventually pop back up / out of his hole and sure enough after about a short 4 or 5 minutes - thats exactly what he did. For the last time. That little 13g ko slug hit him like a little dart and just planted / switched him off. Anchored.
