I no longer compete in any form of shooting competition. But, I still wanted a single wind indicator flag for my home 50yd range. My Bench is setup in my gun/fly tying room and I only need slide-open the window to shoot my air rifles.
I will leave the tripod on the range but will keep the flag in the house and only put it out when I go out to put-up a target. That way the wooden portions of the flag will not warp and swell excessively. Bye the way, the pivot of the Indicator is a pointed steel pin resting against a flat steel rod inside the dowel.
The tripod is leveled on 2-axis and the balance of the Indicator/flag is very slightly heavy on the vane side of the pivot pin.
I like the Indicator vane to point the direction the wind is blowing.
