My Bucket is broke

If you need something pretty short and with legs that don't look like they'll sink in easily.....maybe something like this from the hardware dept. at Walmart might work?

The worst thing that could happen is that you'd end up with an extra step stool around the house.

Wow....things have certainly changed since I last shot Field Target...cant believe all the rests that are now allowed !! Back in my day the rifle had to be supported by your body only, no other supports other than a sling. Looking thru all the FT pics posted, I see more rests in competition than I use for practice and sighting in. Ifvyou folks used fewer rests you would find your offhand would improve greatly as you would learn better holds with less muscle and better breathing techniques. Compared to the olds days it appears to be portable benchrest shooting. Not bashing here just an observation...

Hey guys can my bucket has a crack in it and I need to replace it before I fall off when it gives out. I see some use adjustable stools. Would I need to worry about legs sinking in the ground?

thanks

I and a few friends have this stool and you will not have to worry about sinking.

I'm a bucket guy, I've tried the tri-stools but the seats are just too small for my....ample girth. This seat looks promising, it says not available online but I live relatively close to a BP so I'll look next time I'm there.

I created my own based on the attached plans. I had one of the A-special camping stools that the legs bent on the second outing. The dowels will never break (short of getting run over in the parking lot), and you can get the rubber feet at the big box hardware stores to help on the wet / muddy days. I ended up using the same fabric seat and it works great. One day I will upgrade to the leather.

Good luck.
