...I opted to not buy the Backbone GoPro and used my own GoPro 7 and too went the route of buying an after market lens....

Mind you sharing a source for the lens?
I know that eaglevision didn't had a lens for the last model #10 gopro, and
I don't know yet what the #11 model will look like still a month to arrive.
Actually Gopro and DJI competing now with these incoming new actioncams.

I bought both of them on Amazon. Here is the 12mm lens, which I should probably install. The 16mm lens that is on the camera now has too much magnification.

@bigHUN. The lens I got for my GoPro 7 was from Eaglevision back in 2020. GOPRO 5, 6, 7 Black, Lens 4K 1/1.8” 12MM, M12 X 0.35.

Thanks for the kind words. I had some videos posted when I originally posted the build. Here is a link to a few videos, and yes I was able to capture pellet flight with the sun at my back one morning at 720p.

Cool, what reflection glass used, and camera setting?

The "glass" was actually a prismatic cube mentioned in the opening comments and the action camera was set on 240fps IIRC.
