My First Day of Retirement

Every day is Sat.
This

My week is 6 Saturdays and a Sunday since I retired. Awesome news to hear that you decided to make the move and get the man's boot off of your neck.

Now that I have all day, I shoot for shorter periods, but the periods occur more often per day.
Fix the toilet, go shoot a RAW. Paint the bathroom, pop a few starlings. Start the laundry, shoot a 25 bull BR card.

Welcome to the fun life my friend!!

Congratulations on your retirement. My last work day ended early back in late October of 2019 and I stopped at the pound on my way home and picked up a dog. She took a little work at first but is now my squirrel spotter and retreiver. She doesn't carry them back to me yet but is thrilled when I knock one down and it isn't quite dead yet. She picks it up and shakes it to finish it off. I bought my first PCP in early 2020 and am up to 5 now. Definitely a fun thing to do in retirement.

Thanks Chuck .... wish I had a 100 yard range out back. Need to go to the range for anything beyond 12 yards.
Still can shoot 2mm dots - still not a challenge at 12 yards. I plan to be at the range often.

They want you back because you are not replaceable with the current crop of whatever they are. All born with work allergies.
The belief and tradition has always been a solid 8 hours work for 8 hours of pay. Today it’s get the 8 hours worth of pay but try and work the least, then quit when you find someone else to pay you more for even less time put in. It’s the all about me world today.

To SPIRALGROOVE- congratulations to you. Before long, you too can say man oh man it’s been 8 years since I’ve worked, lol. Tomorrow get up early to watch the news on the morning traffic commute and when you see all those cars piled up on the interstate you probably drove on for years, just sit back, sip that coffee, as you run some patches thru that raw, contemplating the stress for the day- “do I shoot in the early morning with no wind or wait till the afternoon?”

Enjoy!

I wanted to add my own approach to the house duties- it used to be every task from vacuuming, washing cars, mowing lawns, was always done in a stressed out, non 100% efficient or completed manner, because after Sunday night it was back to the grind. It didn’t help that I had a house to remodel that took 14 years on top of regular house maintenance. Being in the trades and having to work a remodel on your house is akin to being behind a computer all day long and then having to respond to personal emails at home- it’s the last thing you wanna do!!!
But being retired, I find my approach to all those house maintenance chores or new projects I now approach methodically as I know I can take my time and do it right the first time, and if it doesn’t get done there’s always tomorrow, so no stress. I’m sure you’ll relate to all of this real quick.

My Wife let me retire last Friday ...... now my daytime activities will mostly be filled with the "Honey-Do" list.
Landscaping the yard, replacing the carpet and painting the inside of the house are TOPS right now, but ...

I also just bought another RAW HM1000x - .25 caliber - Blue Laminate.

Further, I purchased two LW barrels, (1) .22 caliber and the other .20 caliber. I will be fitting them on my lathe, getting new CF barrel tubing as well as making LDC's.

It's gonna be fun .... :)
Did the same thing in '17, plant closing combined with health issues...and an understanding wife with a good job let me hang up my tool box for good...don't miss work at all...retirement was like waking up from a 44 year nightmare...was easy to forget and get used to doing my own thing...when the wife said I could...lol. Enjoy your success from a job well done!!
I though I had enough pellets stashed away for the rest of life but considering all the time to shoot lately...I'm not too sure now! Notice the smile!!!

That is a nice mower!

It needs a rifle scabbard.
