My first PCP - Hatsan AT44-10 QE or Kral Puncher breaker?

Hi guys,

I have narrowed down to these two with my current budget? I will primeraly be practicing target shooting in my backyard from 10-40 yards from bench and standing with a v-yoke, but will also use it for small game hunting. So have decided to get one in .22 caliber. I like to fact that the Kral has the possibility to adjust power without taking the stock off. I know that the Hatsan has more fpe, but I would think for my use it does not matter. Hatsan sells the aftermarket regulator for $99, but not sure if you will get more shots out of one fill, since you can easily tune down the power on the Hatsan as well. Will the long version of the Hatsan be more accurate? Any recommendation?

Hatsan USA sell refurb Novas for $499. I got a refub from Field Target for $407 about a month ago. I'm not sure about the Super Nova being released in the US. I wanted it for the thumb hole stock. The way i see it you can get 75 shots with a low ES without a reg in 22 and even the 25 cal can get over 90 shots with a 25 fps ES without a regulator so a reg is not required.

"Cokemaster"The video from Shoutern Gunner is impressive, wow. Thanks for the tip blackdiesel, I need to get one now I guess.
Just another question, since the Hatsan Supernova RG LW EQ sells for $460 in Turkey. Would it be possible to import it yourself?
Neither of the overseas stores I'm aware of that ships to the US has the SuperNova in stock.

My experience with the Hatsan was due mainly to the fact it was used, and abused. It did shoot well, out to 50 yards (≈1 inches groups) which is as far as I tested it. The JBS 25.39 grain pellets clipped along at about 850 average.

My everyday rifle these days is a bottled and regulated Marauder (2,400 psi), it has a .162 transfer port, and TSS. It shoots the same JBS pellets at 915 fps, and 75 yard groups are just right at 1 inch, if I do my part. I can get the 33 grainers (heavies) to go that fast as well (TSS adjustment), but the groups aren't quite as good as the 25 grainers, even when I slow them down into the 800s.

The Kral PB has some quality control issues in the materials department and the barrels are pretty crude. Charging handles and sears are known issue at the moment. I adjust mine between 40-46 fpe and nothing has broken yet. They will jam if you point the muzzle above 45* when you cock it, other than that mine has never jammed and only use lead pellets.... With a recrown and a lot of polishing, I'm getting 3/4"@ 50. They are a decent gun for the price if you like to tinker, and the aftermarket parts are coming. My charging handles will be available soon, with sears coming next. I've had my eye on the AT-44, looks like a decent gun as well. Do you want a bullpup or a rifle? My scope is 3" above bore c/l, which is something I'm not fond of with bullpups, but it is very compact.

I have both the .22 AT44-QE (std. one) and the Kral PB in .25. I actually like both of them very well even though the cocking lever on the Kral took a dump. Matt really helped me out with his used one and I'll be buying one of his new ones as soon as they're available. Both are very accurate out to 45 yards which is a far as I've shot them. Power wise mine are very close and other than minor trigger adjustments are stock. The AT44 gives me about 35 shots @ around 30 fpe, the Kral close to 50 @ about 32fpe. I do enjoy the light weight and compactness of the Kral and it's my 1st bullpup. The AT44 is a great rifle in it's price range and I've been more than happy with mine. You can "steal" one right now from Field Supply for $299. The .22 &.25 are no longer in stock but you can still get one at that price, just a 7-10 wait. I thought I got a really good deal when I got one delivered for $399. Here you go http://www.fieldsupply.com/airguns/hatsan-at44s-10-quiet-energy-pcp-rifle-black.html . This NEW not a refurb!
Best of luck with your decision!

To be honest, I do not have much experience with air rifles. I only have a spring-piston Gamo Wildcat Whisper in .22. So this will be my first PCP, thus I have never tried or held a bullpup type rifle. I would guess they are easier to handle and shot without a stick? Most of the time I will do bench shooting, so would a long barrel rifle be better, e.g. AT44 in long version v. short. If I can get a Hatsan Nova for $500, I would guess that would be the most accurate rifle in this price range and also a hight shot count which is a plus (80-100).
I was intrigued by the good reviews that people online have given the Kral. However, I guess that most "pro" reviewers only shot from a bench and have the rifle for a couple of days, and not really use the rifle in let's say hunting conditions. At least so far of what I have seen online. Thus the hidden problems do not emerge before extended use? Consequently, you could go with a safe and more proven platform like the Marauder.

Finally, I did looked at some more affordable rifles like the e.g. Gauntlet (again get very good reviews online), not read to much about the Gamo Urban (I'll check it out).
