My first real pcp

I am new to the pcp world. 6 weeks ago I purchased a Air Force condor ss. I soon found that the condor was not even close to what I was wanting, essentially it lacked the accuracy I desire. So i sold it and am now the proud new owner of a daystate huntsman regal in .22 cal. It arrived this afternoon. When I opens the box and saw it for the first time I was impressed to say the least. Remember this is my first real pcp gun. Until today I had no idea that an air gun could be so nice, this is the first high end air rifle I have ever handled. I slapped a vortex scope on it and started shooting. I have shot it maybe 100 times so far. Accuracy at 50 yards is so so. I am getting about an inch plus with it right now. Not great but not bad. It's a new gun with a new to air gun shooter so I'm not really unhappy with my first session with it. It was pretty obvious where the sweet spot stars and stops ( 190 bar to 140 bar just like Ted said in his review ) or their abouts. As I was getting ready to call it a night I spotted two rabbits in my yard 50 and 60 yards respectively. They are now in rabbit heaven. This guns gonna be fun. I am open to any advise from those in the know, especially regarding accuracy at extended ranges.

Once you've compiled a bit more information about the Regal, feel free to share your findings with a comprehensive review under the REVIEWS Gateway.*

Congratulations & welcome to the addiction. The Regal is a beautiful airgun, good choice.

As far as accuracy... just keep shooting. You'll need to figure out which hold is best for that model (tight, loose, benched, bagged, bi-pod, etc). Also try to concentrate on breathing & squeezing the trigger, just like shooting PB. And forget to "dope the wind". Pellets are much more susceptible to wind than bullets.

I see that your picture didn't make it into the post. Check out the last video in this tutorial:

Well your first choice was bad but your second choice is very very good.
I do not know which pellets you have tried but you should try the barracudas 21 grain the Crossman premiers 14.3 grain and the JSB 16 and a8 grain.
I am more than sure you will be able to get a lot smaller groups than what you are getting at 50yards....I know this because I have one and I do one rugged hole at 50 yards, when using my bipods on a bench.

"Micbro"I've had a huntsman classic and agree its not only one of the prettiest guns around but also one of the most accurate. As mentioned above, make sure your using the right pellets, it makes all the difference. Enjoy mate.
Day 2- I shot my regal this morning before any wind was present and can happily say that the groups have shrunk down to the 3/4 " or better at 50 yards. At 75 yards I was getting about 2" . I spent the afternoon shooting starlings on the farm, missed some, got some, I really am enjoying the gun. Yes, the wind is a big factor, more than I would have imagined. As the afternoon went on I started getting more consistent hits. It seems to be real good for about 30 shots out to 75 yards and if I stay within 50 yards I can get just at 50 shots before needing a fill of air. I must confess that this gun is better than I am, I felt like I was working harder than I needed to at first, but after shooting another 100+ pellets today, I feel as though I'm starting to get use to the gun. The only pellets I have shot through it are jsb 18.13 gr. I figured to shoot about 500 pellets before giving the barrel a cleaning. I also noticed this evening that the screw holding the action in the stock was a bit loose, I will check tomorrow to see if the groups improve. When the regal arrived yesterday I threw a scope on it and started shooting, no cleaning no checking of anything, I just slapped a scope on it and started slinging pellets. At this stage I am very happy with it. I will slow down and start making sure everything is as it should be before really trying to get super tight groups. I appricate all of the responses above and look forward to any tips or advice from all of you. Barracuda 21s are on the list for sure. Thanks everyone
