HW/Weihrauch My first springer. HW 35e

That is a very nice looking HW35 ! You seldom see that much "Fiddleback" on a stock unless its on a Kentucky Rifle and they did it by wrapping the stock with rolled wool yarn and lighting it on fire.

You got a winner and that Diopter Rear Sight only adds to it. Do make sure you save the Open Sight because if you decide to put a Scope on the gun to see what it really will do accuracy wise, you'll want to reinstall the rear sight as a back up.

My HW35E is currently running a Bug Buster 3x9 because I am currently Hunting the Wilderness of my Front Yard with it and the heads of young Ground Squirrels are only about 3/4" in Dia. I normally use the gun as my "Open Sight Trainer" so the Rear Sight stays on it.

You will also note: how bland the wood on that gun is. Like I said you got a winner!
You will enjoy shooting that gun probably as much or more than any of your other guns simply because you don't have to leave home to shoot!

Good Luck

Randy

You have been blessed with a real treasure. And to keep it true to form, you set it up as Mr. Hermann Weihrauch intended it to be. A real Heirloom. I see you as the kid who on his first deer hunt, gets the World Record Monster Buck 5 minutes after daylight on opening morning. Enjoy it. I would proceed with caution because some things cannot be undone and it really can’t get much better than it is. Congratulations!

Well, my first and only air gun is starting to look like a blast from the past! I returned home from Boston yesterday after babysitting my 10 month old grandson. A nice little package was in the mailbox. So, my vintage designed air rifle now has a vintage sight on it. The OEM rear sight is still on as I am awaiting my proper screwdriver set:) Also, the “new” sight is not properly installed yet. I’m awaiting Ballistol so I can clean it up properly:)

Hello all,
A couple of months ago I started exploring airguns. I was thinking of a neighborhood friendly gun that I can shoot off my back deck and enjoy putting holes in paper. I read about pump up, CO2, PCP and springers. Long story short, I decided on a springer. Ultimately I decided the HW 30 in .177 was for me. Problem was, I couldn’t find one for sale. Next on list was HW 50. None for sale. The 35e intrigued me with its walnut stock and long heritage. Also, I love nicely figured woods on musical instruments, furniture, etc. I ask the guys at AoA to pick out a nice one for me. Boy, did they deliver. It has a distinctive ‘flame’ pattern the full length of the stock on both sides kind of like tiger stripes. I realize it’s a completely different gun from the 30 and 50. I’ve had it about 3 days now and am in the break in period. Really enjoying it.
I am going to have many questions for you folks on this forum. Which scope, rings, how to deal with barrel droop, etc. (yes, I know how to use the search button but I like to hear from you experts).
Thanks in advance. Here she is.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I can tell there is a lot of knowledge and expertise in the forums. My head is swimming with thoughts on which direction to go with scope vs diopter. The diopter sights are intriguing and look way cool on this rifle. Do they work with old eyes with astigmatism?
I can tell this hobby is going to be like my other interests. The more I research and learn, the more it’s going to cost!
so, today I’m going to do something simple… go to Walmart and buy some CPHP pellets to use during break in, and look for a cleaning kit for .177. Then, do some shooting.
