My grail & first .20cal !!!!

Just received the final piece that I wanted for this rifle! I'm very happy to have found a Dovetail rail mount that actually fits this model C without having to do any crazy modifications:

I was going to drop an RMR on it, but my Co-witness mount sits too damn high on this rail lol (need to install the RMR on something else anyway). 

Anyways, I've had this little Burris FF3 collecting dust, I like the way that it sits on there as is - but I have a UTG risers to experiment with that would allow me to co-witness the open sights. I might try and set it up so the red dot is zeroed to 25y and then have the adjustable elevation with the open sight set out to ~50y.. just depends on how well it shoots with the pellets that I got for it

P.S. - I owe a HUGE shout out to @baker-airguns for carrying this mount!!!! The first mount that I got (Air Venturi branded) for it wasn't compatible with this vintage, despite the listing claiming that it was compatible!

That velocity dropis most likely due to the compressed air cooling down with numbers that stop changing after 15 mins.

Had two of those I bought in 76. Never could get the Sheridan pellets to shoot better than about an inch at 25 yards. Might have done better with a diabolo.

Yep, just wanted to share the data points.

I had extremely good results with the JSB Heavy and H&N Barracudas. I brought a scope to test it with, but I forgot to bring my second dovetail to Picatinny adapter, so I was only able to test with the red dot and iron sights.

Windy / gusty day as usual, 39F, ~1800' elevation, velocity dropped to around 688FPS, but it was a laser beam!!! Decided on a 20M zero, it was stacking pellet on pellet at that range, and under an inch at 45M. Barrel twist rate looks pretty fast, but I haven't measured it yet.

I think this is easily a 50y hunter for small game, but I have closer-range work in mind for this guy.

How are you guys managing lubrication on these?

I've owned a few sheridan's, and worked on many more. But my favorite .20 cal pumper is my Dan model A super grade. I did some customization on mine to make it special to ME.

Refinished stock, resealed valve, added a rubber butt pad, pellet storage grip cap, Merit adjustable iris, grip Checkering, fiber optic front sight. It loves the H&N FTT. Shooting 633fps on five pumps, 735fps with eight pumps. Most of the time, I just pump five times for plinking.

That looks GREAT!!! Very, very nice job you did there! Is that bolt handle factory original?

I might restain mine darker like yours, I dig that darker tone a LOT! I may also checker the foregrip and possibly the hand grip area (but definitely the foregrip lol). Are these stocks cherry wood?

MtnGhost: The stocks on all early Sheridan's are walnut. Mine is not stained. I use Maccari Royal London Oil for a nice rubbed in satin finish.

I have a checkered foregrip on a Sharp pumper, and it can be a bit irritating to the palm of my hand when pumping alot, so I chose to checker just the grip on the Super Grade.

I use Mac 1 Secret Sauce. Buy it on his web site. Here's my 312 Benjy.



if you are serious about keeping that gun and shooting it, send it to Mac 1 and have him steroid it. Pumping 6 times give you the power of 8 pumps.

35+ years of lust and I finally own one! Dated March '67, must have been a safe queen (I'm told that it was serviced / resealed recently). It's in terrific shape from everything that I see, Pumps smooth, holds air, and it had to have been well cared for! 

I got an add-on Picatinny rail for it. I'll probably put a scope on it to test the ammo that I ordered for it (bought a tin of nearly everything that I could find lol). Afterwards, I'll probably drop a little Trijicon RMR on top that I have on a Scalarworks mount so I can run a (QD) 3x magnifier behind it.

Congratulations on one of the nicest streaks I have ever seen. Word of warning, my last shipment of .20 FTTs are strangely undersized. Pyramid air reviews show am not the only one. I will stick with JSB from here on.

So were mine, although not from Pyramid. Jorg from H&N replied in another post here in the pellets forum about that. Didn't know why mine were undersized though.
