The neighbouring property had long dry gras that caught fire and jumped over to our property and started to burn our house. Luckily we were at home and could stop the fire before any serious damage was done. The neighbors were not so lucky and were not at home and it burnt down. The fire brigade was there with trucks and a Huey helicopter and stopped the fire but it was to late, they lost everything.

The meadow where my landlord's zebras is also burned, luckily the zebras did not get hurt. This is how the meadow and my shooting range looks now:

My entire home town burned down. It's almost been a year. People are struggling to get back on their feet. It's hard to come back after this kind of devastation. I feel for them.
Lahaina? We spent our honeymoon in Lahaina back in 2005 and loved it. Watching that fire devastate so many peoples lives and land was hard to watch.

Wow thank the lord your home didn't burn 🙏
It was close or it all did burn down. The front porch started to burn and after the fire extinguisher was empty it was buckets with swimming pool water that saved the day. Meanwhile the fire was on the other side of the house and the workshop. Running around with water buckets in the smoke filling your lungs and burning your eyes so you can barely see is not fun. At one stage I thought we lost the battle but I was determined to save it, there are things that can never be replaced and at my age I don't know if I could.

Yes. My wife and I were watching vIdeos. She asked me where is that? I couldn't tell her. It pretty much is a barren wasteland, no real landmarks or homes to reference. Yea it's truly sad.

Since this morning a lot of people came together to offer food, clothing and other necessities to the people who lost their house and belongings. That is one thing small town people do that I think is lost in the big cities. We did some cleaning in and around the house, one cannot believe where and how much soot / ash get in everywhere and the smoke smell is still around.

This afternoon I did get to shoot some 200 meter targets for relaxation, but with the .22LR and not the air rifle. Only 25 shots but that that did help me relax a bit.
