My neighbor’s new house guest….

Taking my morning walk and saw a big fox squirrel on my neighbor’s roof few houses down. Watches it go under an eave sniffing around clearly looking for a luxurious new home, so I took a picture. That house has flat roof tiles so I figured it won’t get it…….to my shock the squirrel all of sudden disappeared! Then I can hear the chewing/renovation work site noise. Thank god it’s not my house!!!😵‍💫

The crazy part is, as I got back to my house I saw run off on my own fence!!! Now I’m more paranoid than ever, stay vigilant my friends!

I'm currently dealing with a sparrow infestation. They pecked away at a weak point in my soffit, and they set up shop while I was on vacation. The problem for me is I don't have anything smaller than my .30cal FX Maverick VP. Looks like one of those Umarex Notos may be in my future soon.

Noto looks awesome but that’s way way too much power shooting at things you don’t want to damage or upwards. For the sparrows I have a 1701P factory tune of 2.5 FPE shooting extra light lead free pellets to prevent collateral damage. Cool part is the 1701P shoots the H&N lead free pellets like a laser, even gotten headshots on tiny sparrows at 35 yards with enough power left for a clean kill but will bounce off anything else.

Daisy has the cheapest leadfree pellets in their site, will give them a try soon.

tell your neighbor to get a bottle of 100% pure peppermint oil (NOT the food isle stuff in store ) , and a few cotton balls , a few drops on the cotton and throw around attic . IT burns Squirrel eyes and they leave fast . seriously it works .

I have the same problem, lil bastards are pooping on my patio n mesh pool fence. I see a Red Ryder in the near future.

try the cotton .oil in post #6 in your soffit ? might work . just do not soak the cotton, just a drop or two or you will stink up the area or the whole house .
Another idea is a feeder with a safe backstop near by to bait those little Ba##%$ for target s

I had a horrible infestation of HOSPs at our last house. It's why I bought a .177 2400KT and many tins of wadcutters. They would build nests everywhere. Behind the downspouts, coach lights, besides the chimney. Once we went out for the day and upon arriving home, they had built a nest in an open casement window. Their droppings at the paint off the aluminum siding. I set up a bird feeder with a large tree as a backstop and started eliminating them.

Another reason to get rid of Any birds that take up residence in yours is bird mites. A friend didn't remove the nest on his house before sealing the area up and his house was infested by those little demons. They got into everything and made a feast out of him and his family. He had to undo his repair work to remove the nest and it took about a week with the exterminator to clean up the rest.

I'm just curious if he is a good neighbor, as I didn't see where you told him about it and recommending a good air gun... 😁

It’s a few houses down and never met them. Most people in my neighborhood are old retired people it seems so rarely seem them out and about. It’s a quiet neighborhood though. 😅

I'm gonna dump a bag of birdseed at the base of a tree and as they come down for the free meal, I'm going to make certain it's their last. I've already done that twice with the Maverick VP .30cal, but even on the lowest power, that just waaaaay too much juice to be slinging in my crowded neighborhood, even with a tree backstop.

I get the same thing where I live. Red squirrels chew around under the eaves and will end up getting into the attic. The HW50S is my go-to squirrel gun. I've got a fox and the occasional bear out back, so the squirrel corpses end up being a free snack.

The warm weather is great all the critters. What I thought was Fred the fox is actually Francis and she brought her 3 pups to my back yard last night. I need more squirrels to feed the new family! 😅

You my friend will soon discover the joy of low power 177 airguns! It’s a riot……on the cheap!

If you got spare change AOA has the BroCock atomic for $1099, it’s a damn good compact carbine for that piece! I bet you won’t be able to put that gun down around your house! If it bothers you, just tape over the brand name.🤣

I use wadcutters around 7 gr. Will kill sparrows accurately out to 30 yards and it is bone stock. I use a Williams adjustable rear sight but a red dot works well on my friends. 50 shots per fill is a lot sparrows.
