My New Akela

Looks like the hammer spring is in too far causing you to have a descending shot string. Are you filling to 200 bar?

There is no hammer spring adjustment. I'm filling all the way.

The hammer spring is adjustable. Have you verified its backed all the way out?

Thanks Troy. I didn't know that. Where can I find it?

Definitely a prettier stock than I expected, grats! Also, I like the placement of the pressure gauge. You can just lay down the rifle and glance over to see your fill instead of having to turn the thing upside down frequently or put your face in front of the barrel.

Thanks. I'm really liking the stock also. I do like the guage placement also. I hate leaning into the barrel to check the gauge.

Nevermind I found it. It was turned in about a half turn. Now it’s all the way out. Back to testing.

After backing out my hammer spring adjuster all the way. Which was about 1/2 turn the best strings I got so far is in the half power mode. Heres 5 strings for 5 mags that I shot from 3000-1800 Let me know if these are ok or close to what you're getting. All shots were quite accurate at 25 yards.

Where is the hammer spring? I did turn the screw behind the trigger in very slightly and the trigger is much better. I’m a newb and don’t know much about hammer springs.

To get to the hammer spring adjuster you need to remove the action from the stock. It’s on the back of the action. It’s a silver flat head screw. The spring itself is in front of the adjuster inside the receiver.

Those Akels's grab my attention. I am anxious to see hear how they are shooting at 50 yards. If its close to MOA I may have to grab one up.

Same, I'm watching this thread The gun looks gorgeous and, has a great warranty. It seems well thought out, minus the placement of the side lever. Ive always had a stellar experience with Crosman's customer service. If the accuracy is there at 50yards, I'll count my coins and order one.

Mr Sparky, my Akela will easily break small hen eggs at 50 yards ( with a SIG 2MOA red dot scope) with NSA 17.5 gn slugs. I rarely shoot paper, as my airguns are used exclusively for hunting. My fav reactive targets are small hen eggs (about the size of a squirrel head). I cannot attest to how good they are as target riflles, but they are excellent for small game hunting rifles.

Are guys putting a moderator on them? Are they pretty loud without one?

The one I have is not loud, but because your cheek is right on the breech you hear more mechanical noise than on a traditional rifle. I'm still figuring it out, one thing I found is the cheek rest had to be removed in order to get a sight picture even with high pic rings. This is my first pup so it's all kind of new.

It's a very accurate rifle. I'm not that good at 50 yards but I'm sure the gun is. I've seen other peoples groups that were 1/2' or less. I'm good for around an inch and close to a 1/2" on my very best days. But it's not the guns fault. It's just me.

Here's some groups at 50 yards using JSB 15.8s. Most were 6 shots.

It seems my Akela has developed a leak. The last 2 mornings its been between 2-300 psi lower than where I filled it to when I finished shooting.

I'm going to try a little soapy water around the gauge and foster fitting today. But otherwise I guess I'll be sending in for warranty work. This might explain why my shot strings were not as consistent as other owners strings.
