Also which is best.? After 2 days of shooting the300S arrived Friday afternoon only allowing time to mount and zero a STac 4-16×50. The biggest plus for the 300 is it's the easiest of the guns to just sit down and shoot pretty well. It's like all springers in that it depends on how you hold it, or not. I have close 500 shots out of it and it seems to like very light cheek,pistol grip, and shoulder. I shoot a very low leather rear bag with short Cordova ears all packed tightly with heavy sand and a conventional front rest with a high eared leather bag I had Protector make to my specs for another gun, which does not work for that gun but is perfect for the 300S. At 20 meters it perfers the JBS 8.44 In 4.52 over the other 15 or so pellets I tried. 5 shot groups center to center average about .150 with several at .100. Quite a few with 4 shots literally close to a zero but then one shot egged out. Trigger is about 2 oz , plenty of 1st stage and when it breaks at the 2nd stage you feel nothing moving, the gun just goes bang, very nice. I shot a target of our match animals around twice for 40 shots and had 2 shots that might have edged out to lose the 1/2 point bonus so a 59x60 or a 60x60. So vs the 75s accuracy is very close but at this time I give the edge to the 75. Only hold back to the 75 is the curve at the end of the butt does not lend itself to bench shooting with a rear bag. A great gun that like the 75 it screams, Quality. At 607.8 fps and SD of 1.7 it can deliver the goods. I have an idea the wife may claim this so I will need one, lol. the 2 rifle have been written about over a long time and some like the 300's and some like the 75's
i do believe there are far more 300's in the hands of shooters than the 75's
over distance they are a push, scope them the same gibe them to 20 people and the like will be even
i understand your 75 butt pad dislike but i have never seen a replacement

I've never shot a 300, but I imagine it's a crazy accurate shooter. I did have a D75 for awhile and it was an incredible rifle, like you said, you touch the trigger and there's a hole in the target, no movement felt.

My fwb300 is also incredibly accurate and shoots JSB 7.3s at about 7fpe. It is the only gun of this type that I have ever shot. What a gem, and too bad that they are no longer in production. If I could buy a new gun of this type, I certainly would.

I would not replace it. We have figured out how to shoot them. It would be a shame to alter them.

I was luke warm on the 300s until Nitocrushr expressed how he enjoyed his. One popped up on another forum and I knew the owner from past competitions so I trusted his assessment.Bustchip you should have kept the 75.

Nice write-up Jeff, both are fine rifles. I finish up many of my days in the shop by shooting one or both of these and they always bring a smile to my face.
