My new Record (distance)

I will start by saying that my previous record for distance on a pest critter was a squirrel taken at 120 yards with a FX Bobcat Mk2 in 30cal.

It seams as if every year groundhogs start to invaded structures around the area. Which at times means taking the shot when the opportunity comes. Yesterday's opportunity was only 20 yards away while I was at my parents home. Meanwhile, I have one near my own property that jumps from hole to hole, based on amount of activity that may spook it into hiding.

Tonight I noticed one come out of a hole on a hill behind my house while taking one of my dogs out. I rushed inside and quickly got the Donnyfl Ronin attached to my airgun and grabbed my range finder, while headed to the back of the house with the bag of 33.5gr NSA slugs. Range finder displayed 126 yards. I quickly loaded the slug and set the rear focus on my 12x42 SWFA ss scope and put the range into strelok to get my holdover, which was 18 MOA. I steadied her on my sandbags and sent a 33.5gr slug flying. It found its mark in the body and disconnected the back end turning his 4 wheel drive into a very labored front wheel only. From the effort it took him to make it the 10 yards to his hole, I can safely say he will not be coming back out. What makes this feat a little sweeter in my book is the instrument of his demise.

This was done with a 12" barreled .25 cal TalonP that's putting out about 52ft-lbs at the muzzle and hit him with about 36ft-lbs at that distance.

I don't have a scope camera mount for this setup, so I just took a picture through the lens with my phone and cropped it to enlarge it.
