Umarex My Notos first impressions

Brother, I get emotionally upset when I'm not shooting .33" groups at 35. These did. These didn't shotgun at all. They held tight and were more than 30fps faster than the half grain heavier NSA .2175 17.5s however, know I've got a superior liner and FX kit on mine. I don't know how they shoot through stock barrel yet. They're more money than the NSA 17.5. They're better. These expand... Bigly. 788-803fps out of my gun. They held tight at 70. The pellet hole is exactly inline elevation and Windage of where I held. I've just ordered 800 more.
Sweeeet! I don't have my Notos anymore, but I have a GK1, and although it shoots VK .223 slugs amazingly! (Picture of 5 shot group at 40yds) I want to use those slugs in my K1 .22. I ended up buying a .218 size Magazine from Kelly for the GK1 so these would be fantastic! Normally I buy slugs from VK but idt he makes them smaller than 22gr.

Someone suggested the other week to run patches every 60 or so shots with slugs. Or whenever they stop grouping like pellets. This advice has served me very well.

I'm envious.

I am internally fighting between a K1 lite, Taipan 2 tax, or a Wildcat Mk3BT for next rifle. Possibly between a dynamic compact, Two compact, KATRAN C, or krait for next carbine. Cannot make up my mind.

I am mentally biased against unregulated guns. How extreme is the velocity curve on the Gk

I've never done a chrony from full to empty, I can perform one next week. But it shoots flattest when the tune is between 800 and 900fps, the gun shoots as if it's unregulated. My previous gk1 .22 would shoot 15.89 Fx pellets around 815fps at 350b and I would shoot it down to 120-130b and I would always hit my mark. I never felt the need to chrony more than 10 shots for consistency and it was very consistent. Now my K1 is consistent af lol even with the regulator barely broken in and with less than 300 shots through it shooting 28.5gr .223 slugs in the 970s it will shoot duplicates over and over and over and over and then drop or increase by 2 fps and go back to the original fps it's never jumped more than 6fps

That sounds like they did the gk1 right. Very impressive for unregged. It's such a looker too.

I'd like a list of those parts, love the skeleton look.

They did, and it definitely is. I have mine set up, but I'm waiting on parts to arrive so I can get it to look as close to this as I can

Its very nice. Love the look. I don't know if either of you ever watch "AirRifleActivities" on YT. But he rigged himself a very eastern European practicality wire stock. Thought he nailed it. I like the minimalist look myself

I had my first session of actual hunting where I could stretch the legs of the Griffin slugs

I was already impressed by my backyard 45 and under paper punching and the dove . I took 3 squirrels today from 48y to 85y, 4 doves from 50y to 114y and a Sparrow at 90. These things shot as if they were glued to the elevation stadia. ZERO diversion in Windage without actual wind input. In .22 FX superior liners it's all I will shoot from here on forward for hunting.no pass throughs on 2 squirrel head shots. Just D.R.T. the birds sounded like they were firecrackers going off. Just damn.. Griffin airgun ammo. just damn. You are the man

Congrats! I am glad you found the slugs for your gun! I actually found a video with expansion performance on those slugs you got.

Pretty neat to see just how much controlled expansion there is on such a slug with a relatively small HP, that polymer ball certainly does help! In .217 I usually get Varmint Knocker XLHP slugs as the 22gr frangments when shot between 970 and 1020fps and the geavier ones expand as low as 700fps from my findings.

But I will see about giving these as try on my custom GK1 .218 mag since they are working out so well for you.

Luckily now the griffins are 23.99 for 200.

Still expensive. But I used to use the NSA 17.5 .2175s. when I got actual .2175-218 they were fantastically accurate. But never a lone pube on the toilet seat's worth of expansion. The under bore ones mixed in would cause shotgun patterning and it drove me insane. Gone through 5 boxes of 400. 2 boxes were dead on and grouped just as well as Hades. 3 had several distinct POIs. Sorting necessary.

Griffin have all fit the exact same. Flown the exact same and smacked the ever loving bejesus out of winged and clawed. I'll gladly pay more for performance. Which on accuracy. Yes, with terminal performance... Yes, consistent expansion. So far, yes. Consistent sizing... So far. Yes

That's awesome! All those checked boxes sounds just VK lol. I'll definitely get some, rhe 17gr weight is very appealing, that should allow me to get at least 50 shots around 850fps from the GK1

Best example yet.

Shot him about 10min ago. Entered his right nostril. Was a large bump above his ass on his back. Was the slug. I removed it... Here.....

Siiiiiick! So it traveled a good 4.5-5 inches after smashing bone and stopped under the skin.
Yeah. It did. I was trying to showcase the expansion at roughly 753fps (29y according to my element app velocity at 29/30y) but yet. And despite the headshot. He didn't even twitch. Just kinda flipped backwards and rolled down the berm. The berm I coated in raw peanuts..

That's good expansion!

This probably sounds idiotic. But, last night I fell asleep very early from staying up to watch the election...I wake up at 1am... Got 6 hours to kill before leaving for work.. so, Im screwing around with the notos. And I'm sick of the only the last ½ rotation of the hammer screw being able to make ANY change at all. I already heavied the hammer, first with lead, second by getting a friend to turn up a copy out of tungsten. And it helped, I'm getting the 17gr slugs out of the barrel between 818 and 841 (obviously a hammer spring issue). Lowering the pressure did stabilize the spread, but lower velocity at 800-810. So I pop the stock off and I get the stupid simple idea of putting the thickest delrin gasket I have inside of the hammer spring cavity in the hammer.. close the gun up, chronod ... Cock pop. 852, 847, 852, 848, 846, 850... This is fully backed out to stock position at 2200± psi with a 17gr slug. I went from 25fpe to over 30 playing with pressures and spring. At 2200 with the delrin gasket inside flush stock setting to only 1.25 turns I hit limit and lost speed. So up to 2400... 871FPS. 850 with 18.3s 893 with 16s. Feels good man. Actually taking advantage of the full port.

Edit' I don't know why, but I get higher velocities from JSB/FX/HN 15.89s than AEA Or JTS. 909 was the highest from baracuda 15s.

Because there's less friction and contact when the pellet rides the groves.
