Umarex My Notos first impressions

I'm currently in the process of 3D printing a folding stock, this may take some time. I ran into a small problem though.
I can't seem to be able to remove the butt stock from the original "buffer tube" on the notos. I really like the stock on the notos and it would save me money from having to buy another.
On a normal ar style buttstock you just hold a pin up and it slides off. This doesn't seem to be the case for the notos. There does seem to be a pin. But I had it up as far as can be and nothing.
Does anyone know what I might be missing here?
push the stock adjustment lever in as much as you can and pull the butt stock out

I'm

I found the POI shifts irreconcilable and divorced from the original forend and rail altogether. Ordered a 9 slot dovetail to pic rail and mounted direct to receiver. solid POI no shift at all anymore. All the groups I posted were achieved as currently set up

I ordered that drop block as a fill in
Waiting on dropblock regulator to finish being clocked
does that drop block flex? my spidey senses are going off like crazy just looking at it.

I haven't shot it very much yet with it set up this way, I haven't had time to shoot much. But it seems fine. I haven't noticed any POI shifts (what little I have shot). I'll have to get back to you after I shoot it more next weekend.

Only problem I have run into is the fact that I mounted it directly where my fill probe goes so I have move the legs to fill it. As for the bipod itself, it feels good to use. The quick detach thing is great. If I'm traveling with it or just don't want to use it it is simple to take it off. It is quite low, I don't see it at all when using the scope. It feels really rugged, but not very heavy.
But I have a few complains about it:
Left right pan is not great, think it is only 22 degrees. It is also very stiff but I think this could be fixed by just unscrewing a hex screw a little.
Legs do not rotate all the way back. I heard that there is a small pin that you can pull out to fixes this, I haven't tried this yet so I don't know. Really strange that they did this in the first place.
The legs are quite far apart, I never used an over bore bipod so maybe this is normal. I can see this being a problem in the field with limited space to plant it.
over bore always looked really nice to me. i was assuming that since the legs are so wide apart, there would me more lateral range of movement.

Compared to a under bipod I would say there is less lateral movement. But it is way more stable (I have no fear of the gun ever falling over) and much easier to get level. Because the gun is more or less hanging from the bipod, gravity naturally makes the gun level. Kind of like a plumb bob.

Found a good review of it here, if your interested.

If you do decide to get one I highly suggest you remove the screws in the side of the legs that prevent them from rotating backwards. They are unnecessary and if you don't remove them you are stuck putting them in the forward position (or taking them off) when your not using them.

It's a POS stopgap measure. My z valve just got here , now I'm waiting for Sunday when the pinless adj reg gets here. If you can find it in stock. Buy the cricket reg from huben.

You can not imagine the frustration when I got the block which I had lapped to clock perfect.. and NO PIN VALVE DEPRESSOR!

Shot a little more tonight to get some chrono data. Both were shot 10 times. Both SD was below 2, which is good enough for me.
Hades is shooting an average of 738fps (19.2fpe).
NSA .2175 is shooting at 695fps (18.77fpe).

So, Hades wins? Nope. At 30y, the likely distance I will shoot from, Hades drops to 14fpe and NSA goes to 16.7fpe. Over 5y NSA beats it in power. Although I am using BC data from NSA website and to be honest .075 BC sounds way too good for these.

Anyways, here is a target of some Hades, both are 3 shot groups @ 30y:
Notos_hades 3shotgrp 30y.jpg

Might notice how the POI shifted between the two. I was likely running off the reg for those last 4 shots but I wouldn't think it would drop that far down because of that.
I would have shot some NSA, but I had zeroed for Hades and did not feel like re-zeroing for slugs (they are no where close to the same impact).

My poi shifts 1 minute high and 3 min right when I swap from NSA to Hades. But both group like gods own hand guides them.

I have a plenum and run 2200 to the reg. So I'm at near 720 with the slugs. 785 with Hades. Whenever the new reg arrives Sunday I'm porting. Gonna go from 2.7- 3.5 Sunday. Check the results.. then make a decision. My goal and desire to call the project done on the tuning and power side is 850-860ish on 15.9. And if like to see the slugs at 800. So part 66 and to are gonna open up. Already have a 4mm breech port with the FX barrel

That last .0005 was night and day wasn't it? Hades were a good match as well

yeah porting alone gives me 790+fps using 17.5gr nsa with the HS turned in 80-85% full. i also lowered my reg pressure below factory setting. i think those velocities are achievable but shot count is gonna drop like crazy with the regulator setting that high

I have a 500cc/300bar bottle on. As it is from 4250- 3k Gets me nearly 110 shots. I have yet to go below 3k on the tank before filling. I'm fine with 90-125 shots from 4250-2200 if it means I'm hitting 28-30fpe. When I feel like dropping another 250 I'm thinking about swapping to the .22/500 FX barrel and superior liner. Would have to sell the 380mm I have now.

Edit: pic below are projectiles dug out of squirrel face on to me tonight.. slug entered nostril and ended in hind quarter. (33y (Right) and Hades that hit rabbit this past Sunday... 90⁰ facing left at 22-23y through left side of left eye exited right shoulder and barely entered dead log if was against.

Yeah, mine does just about the same. I'll have to write down the zero position for both.
That last .0005 was night and day wasn't it?
Went from fist size+ groups to less then quarter. I was quite surprised how drastic the change was.
The Hades do tend to group better for me but, as I said, NSA do way better in terms of power over distance.
I'll likely stick with the slugs, more power and cheaper then the Hades.

Exactly my conclusion. The economics and extended capabilities... It's hands down UNLESS the risk of over penning is unacceptable and shots are from 50 and in. The slugs extend my comfort zone to about 70/75 depending on prey

amazes me how i can switch from pellet to slug so easily

You are NOT lying. I have to roll the power wheel up from 13 to 19-20 to shoot 30gr hp 2s or to 17 to shoot hybrids at best velocity for both. My sweet spot dreamline .25 tune is 25.4 exacts at 903.5fps 120bar about 62.50% on HS screw and 13 on the wheel... At this setting I get .2mil or less groups @60y and with a 31y zero I get a .3mrad ± in elevation from 25-50 no hold unders unless high angled slant close up as well as near 90 shots from 250-150 on my 500cc

My crown. Completely different tunes.

Edit: all that being said. The last month or two the notos has gone from a novelty to my current favorite child.

Well, fellow notos Junkies.

I ported. And I am very satisfied.

I did a very mild port. My port was originally ±2.7mm. I brought it to 3.5mm. These are my results thus far.. btw I used my original tube + plenum. Didnt want to risk a 500cc blowoff. (IDK why, I expect things to explode every time I pressurize.). So this is at 1900psi. And 85-90% hammer spring.

These are with 15.89 Hades. 825.9 average 17 shots until I hit reg pressure so a little lower shot count. But with the bottle. Worth it.... The 15.9 exacts chronod at 837.3 average.

And with slugs... 17.5gr NSA .2175(218)
