I came up with what looks like a good design but the mechanism metal was not strong enough. My goal is to get the right materials and balance weight to be able to shoot it with my higher power airguns at above 30 fpe. or more. Bill
Great idea for a target Bill, I bought one of the resetting silhouette targets and was denting it up pretty good with my .22 springer that makes 15ftlbs. I got my angle grinder out and cut some i think 3/16ths steel i had laying around. Drilled through the back and put the added metal on the front and attached with self tapping screws. I was setting it up at the range at 50m and shooting it with my Royale 500 the twisted arms like we both have just twisted up pretty quick haha. Also broke the little circlips that hold the thing in place so i've been creative with electical tape, zip ties, and hose clamps to keep them centered. The spring up top is to keep the weight at the bottom because I added steel up top.
So finally added a "supporting brace" on the back side and big tek screws to run through all 3 layers it still cups it as you can see but after hitting them with 50 shots they just need a tighten on the bolt at the back. I use double hearing protection at the range because I'm always the only airgun guy, anyways I can hear the thwap from 50m away of pellets hitting these if they hit square!
Glem.Chally I found a better corner brace to use which seems to be working out under fire so far. I made another post with the Part II improvement but here you go. Bill
