Mystery Machine I got no clue...need help to identify.

My Wife brought this "thing" home from an auction knowing I like air guns...I have no idea what even makes this "thing" work...it has a rifled barrel appx
.357 Dia bore the spring slides in the back and is captured by a sear and released by the trigger to the rear...the tank, if it is a tank, doesn't look like hpa to me but it isn't a firearm either, the only mark on the "thing" is the wasp...no makers mark no nothing except on the rubber grip. Maybe some parts are

missing I have no clue...sooo any ideas what this "thing" is...only info from the auction was may have been a proto type of something????

You could try running that last pic of the wasp through Google lens and see if any other photos show up, and then track from there. Looks like a mini air force gun to me. Like they left a talon in the drier too long. Cool find.

It resembles a Microlite bullpup or one of those southeast asian AF bullpup clones. Can't find anything on the logo using tineye/image search for hornet/wasp/yellowjacket.

Why would they put a rail behind the grip? It looks like an old Tippman paintball gun.

It says Stowaway on the grips. They make paintball guns, maybe others as well.

Stowaway 2 is the name of that particular grip.
It was manufactured by Lonestar ordnance for the AR 15.

This may be an early CO2 big bore, the tank and fill fitting would make sense...may have been required to be tethered...I don't know what pressure CO2 operates at but the tank and fitting aren't for very high pressure...need more input...

Is the barrel rifled? I'm tempted to believe it might be a paintball gun, but I don't see a loading port. The rail behind the grip maybe for a stock or bottle? I know I've seen the wasp logo before, but I can't remember where. I do remember it was on a sticker.
Honestly though, without it in my hands, all I can do is speculate and offer lame ideas as they come to me.

The barrel is rifled maybe 9mm...I have no idea how it was loaded I suspect parts are missing. Don't think its a paint ball or a spear gun leaning towards CO2 big bore made years ago.
