cjtamu,

How about a close-up of the butt stock? Looks like Walnut from your earlier posts, but inquiring minds wish to know!
Here you go. Pics from a couple angles and one in different light. Hoping to get some in natural light tomorrow but not at ALL complaining about the rain. Looks like the previous owner was a smoker, last night my fingernail was pulling up tar from some of the grooves in the checkering. And I could smell it. Was at the store buying some new clean toothbrushes about the time you posted! A little Orange Glo and it cleaned up nicely.

P.S. You can kind of see in the first pic that the grip cap isn’t black. I think it’s probably plastic but it’s a bark brown wood grain similar to the piece on the tip of the forestock.

Thank you. Put the scope on it last night and got to try it a little today after the rain stopped. Shooting H&N Barracuda Match 10.65 gr. Adjusted windage at 10 yd then moved out to 20. It's about 1.5 mil dot or so low at 20 yd and I left it because I'm guessing it will be very close to dead on at 30. Took 4 or 5 practice shots then a 10 shot group at 20 yards. 9 of them could be covered with a dime and the 10th one a little left was unfortunately not the gun's fault! Was really amazed at the accuracy because I have maybe 25 pellets through it since I got it? Are you using the arrestor pin with the Sportsmatch rings? Have seen some information on issues with arrestor pins on the T01 and T05 guns gouging the dovetail holes and pulling out because they're so shallow. This dovetail is in great shape and I'd like it to stay that way. Actually going to start another thread in the General Discussion section looking for info on this gun. This thread has kind of turned into a Q&A on this gun and that wasn't what it was meant to be. Hopefully other people will post up their new guns here and people can post info about the 52 in the other thread.

P. S. Still waiting on Kim to shoot her HW30S and give feedback. We have a new puppy so she was pretty tired today and didn't participate ha ha.

Have posted before about how I like older, traditional knives, watches, etc. I also like things that are a little different. Today's carry is a post-WWII US Army Engineer's knife and today's timepiece is a 1952 Longines-Wittnauer manual winder. Love stuff like that. So, when I saw this gun and couldn't find another like it or even much info on the model I decided to take a flyer. RWS Diana 52 Luxus/Luxor in .177. From what I've found you can tell it's a Luxus from the diamond checkering, the darker wood (it's a completely separate piece) at the tip of the forestock, and of course the 52L etched on top. T05 trigger, manufacture date of 10/07. Seller said this was a special model made for Pyramyd but I haven't been able to find it anywhere. This gun has had the nylon spring guides installed, assuming it's a Vortek PG2 kit. Scope is I believe the original. It's a RWS 6 x 42 AO IR with a 30 mm tube. Never seen rings like this. One bolt per ring holds it to the rail and it's spring loaded. Fortunately, they removed the scope before they shipped because when I started to mount it and looked the arrestor pin was sitting flush. Took the ring off thinking I would turn with a hex or tap down. Nope. I was staring at the arrestor pin. You actually remove the rail clamp bolt and spring and flip the insert upside down so the pin protrudes. Dropped right into the hole on the rail, mo bettah now. I assume the springs are meant to reduce recoil? Wondering if it got sold because they couldn't ever get the scope to hold zero with no arrestor pin ha! Found very little info on the stock and what I found conflicted. One seemed to remember the Luxus was a beech stock that may or may not have been dipped and with the darker wood on forestock but wasn't sure. One said all of the 52's had walnut stocks. Finally found one who said he had a Diana catalog and it showed the Luxus with a walnut stock. Figuring all this out is complicated by the fact there were UK variants that were slightly different. I was originally thinking it was beech but after getting it in hand and seeing the grain I'm leaning towards walnut. The forestock piece is I think Oregon walnut or similar. Very dark. Hoping maybe BoG or Mycapt65 or someone that's been into air guns longer than I has an idea. Have some questions about the scope rail, I'll take some pics for the air gun gurus tomorrow when I remove the scope. Some badly needed rain has kept us from shooting our new guns. Not complaining but looks like we might get a little break early tomorrow. Hope so, this is a neat gun and I'm looking forward to seeing how it shoots. Any info on this model or the 52 in general would be much appreciated.

That's a pretty rifle.
i like older stuff too. i have an Anschutz 35 springer that i recently re-finished the stock, waiting on a Titan spring to come in and a piston seal to finish off the refurbish. we'll see how it goes?

Thank you. Love to see pics of that Anschutz when you're done. Hope you enjoy bringing it back to life as much as we enjoyed this one. I got lucky and all the stock took was a good scrub and polish. As an added bonus someone used packing tape and taped the bubble wrap TO THE STOCK when it was shipped. Wasn't on there long and didn't do any permanent damage fortunately. Wasn't going to posy any more pictures but, oh well. Before pictures are below. The After pictures are in my post above. The last 2 After pics of the stock were taken under the same light as the Before ones, so you can see the difference it made.

Got some information from Hector Medina. He said on occasion Diana will pit out a limited number of these "Luxus" stocks. This particular rifle was only made for a couple of years. Stock is walnut. The cap is rosewood. He said while not exceedingly rare they're not that common, believes less than 50 were imported into the US. After the Luxus came the "Superior", which was a decorated beech stock. Many thanks to Mr. Medina for the information. If I stated anything incorrectly please let me know. Looking forward to seeing what Brown Santa et al are bringing y'all.

Took the scope off the Diana this morning and put 5 pellets through it to make sure everything was working. Iron sights at 10 M. Gun is in really great shape. A few stock dings that I'll lift out. First 2 pellets to get a feel for the hold and trigger, still were only about 1/4" apart. Next 3 with a little more purpose. First 2 were hole in hole, 3rd one low left, missed touching the hole by about 1/16". Me without my glasses, only 1 cup of coffee, and a gun I've never shot before. More than happy with those results. Enjoyable, but a different shooting experience. If my HW95 is Ali, all smooth and silky, then this gun is Tyson. Shot cycle isn't harsh but it's violent. Explosive. LOUD! This gun punches WAY above its weight. And that's with the Vortek PG2 kit, can't imagine what stock spring is like. Cocking takes some effort, butt of the gun actually caused a little discomfort on my thigh. Going to take a SWAG at torque settings for the rings to rail and mount the scope up. Hopefully get a chance to shoot some this weekend. Kim enjoyed her few shots with her new HW30S immensely. Very quiet in comparison. Sugar Ray Leonard ha ha ha. Pic below is the scope rail on the Diana. I've read that the T05 and earlier guns have the rail mounted with screws while the later guns used rivets. Not sure what that rear slot head screw is for. Can't be a scope stop because the rings don't touch it. Maybe for a diopter sight or some type of adjustment for barrel droop?

That screw is indeed a stop screw for a diopter or peep sight.

Despite the size of the slotted head, the threaded shank is only like an M2 or M3 screw size and it will shear off if used as a stop for a scope ring.

Badger5th- We can all quit any time we want. Glad we don’t want. Thread wouldn’t be much fun then! Congrats on the new pistol.

Chuck-in-Ohio- Thanks for the info. Have had a couple email conversations with Hector Medina, got some great info on the gun. And he’s going to help with my concerns about keeping the rail from getting FUBAR. Some other GTA guys with 48 and 52 very helpful as well. Going to take off the original scope and rings so they don’t get damaged and go to modern scope and ZR mount.

Kim finally got a chance to shoot her HW30S this morning. Loves it. The interchangeable front inserts are a Godsend for older folks who want to shoot with open sights. She settled on a front peep sight with two cutouts and improved immediately. Gun had good accuracy right out of the box. Dialed it at 10 yards then got her to try 3 from 20 yards standing which she's not done much. One 8 and two 9's on a Shoot n C target, she was very happy. The small size and light weight make it really easy for a small shooter to handle. Very nice rifle.

Was looking for something to keep stock sights or peep on for those early morning varmint kills when it takes an hour to get the condensation off a scope around here. Stumbled on this next door. Original box, original paperwork. Diana Model 34 T05 trigger gun made in 2004. Seller was the 2nd owner and he said he didn't believe it had even been fired. After looking at it I'm inclined to agree. Not a mark on the bluing, no wear marks anywhere. Doesn't have a butt pad of any kind, just etched wood and there's not a mark on it. One thin scratch on the stock, so who knows for sure? Put about 20 pellets through it and it shoots well. I didn't realize how much power this model made until I shot it. Cool little gun, should be perfect for what I bought it for.
