Hello,

Could you please clarify what “factory” barrel for the Sportsman Slug Air Class means. Does it mean barrels that come along with the PCP unit when sold or can aftermarket barrels be used? For example I had an FX Crown with a FX Superior Slug liner but decided to install a Lothar Walther barrel instead. Is that allowed?

Are muzzle brakes and harmonic tuners allowed to be installed on the barrel?

It means 100% factory built rifle. Every component has to be manufactured by the factory selling it. Similar to the new Factory class, but price has no limit.

good luck with that with companies like Skout and their 100 different barrels, leaves the door wide open for any barrel on the market.
Does not seem like much if any takers at 50 yards from manufactures. Their interest lies at 100 and beyond just from what you read and see what is being posted especially with these big events.

There is but the fact they use barrels from every high end manuf just means it’s not quite as a level playing field as say other manuf is all.

The LW barrel Tim is describing in that post is indeed a Factory barrel. It is a LW barrel, made specifically for Skout, and offered from the factory on our rifles. Your drop down screenshot describes this specifically, as it shows you can buy this exact barrel from the factory.
Luke, with all due respect, I don’t know what barrel Tim bought his rifle with, only he or possible you know that information? Even though the LW barrel is offered as an option from Skout, it is my interpretation of the N50 rules if the OEM barrel that the rifle originally came with was swapped for any other optional barrel, then that barrel swap would put that rifle into the pro class.

Knowing Tim, I assume that he knows and understands that rule.

What would the case for Air Arms be? Their LW barrels aren't made by AA but are made specifically for AA?
As for Skout... I think that if a barrel is offered by a company (at the initial purchase) it IS a factory barrel. You are getting a random barrel off of a shelf. I seriously doubt you are going to get a 'hand selected' item. Other people may feel differently. I can see this causing some arguments with the super competitive.

I think the word "Factory", used in the N50 rules, is quite possibly a spillover rule from the ARA rulebook since the N50 board members all have history with the ARA organization. I may be speaking out of turn but that is only my guesstimate. ARA is VERY specific about limiting factory rifles, shot in the ARA Factory Class, to the one and only barrel that came attached to the rifle when purchased new from the dealer. They do not allow any barrel changes or modifications period. Even though many rimfire manufacturers offer other barrels for their actions, changing the factory attached barrel to an "optional" barrel, AFTER the original purchase, would be a violation of the ARA rules.

I believe the intensions of the N50 rules for Factory and Sportsman Classes somewhat follows the ARA rules in an attempt to keep both classes simplified. The 28 page ARA rulebook can be head spinning and complex so that is why I personally appreciate the simplifications of N50's 3-4 pages of rules.

I posted my goals for this year's N50 competition season in plain sight on Facebook, and someone copied them to this thread. I had no idea that an OEM supply chain factory barrel is considered the complete opposite. It must be symantics taught by a liberal school. As to lying, there was none of that. Just someone copying and pasting posts out of context. In other words, to break it down to their level for ease of understanding, one post had nothing to do with the other. My YouTube videos are pretty straightforward.

N50 would like to hear your thoughts on opening up the Sportsman slug air class to allow aftermarket barrels and barrel attachments. This class was originally designed to bring Factory slug rifles together against the rimfire rifle. As of now, zero participation coming from air.

We are interested in hearing what you have to say.

Thanks,
Joe

Lou,

I went to the N50 Web site today. I could not locate the new rule changes that apply to ‘excluded RF factory rifles.’ I did see something about Annie’s ( I have a 64 MPR 64 action and a match 1907 pro class 54 action that has a Tuner) in that excluded list. I navigated the site and could not find the excluded factory rifle list.

Can you clarify if I can or can’t use my two Anschutz .22 LRs for N50 matches? FWIW - I have been using both rifles for practice N50 card target shooting since I joined N50 in 2021.
I use the 64 MPR for Sportsman and the 1907 for Pro class.

Also, I really don’t understand why the factory rifles are excluded. What’s the issue with using these brands?

Thanks, Tom
