I’ve always made my own. They are ultra simple. Never really saw one that could be bought that I liked. if you a jigsaw to make the backer, that’s all you need as far as special tools.
Joe, if I was remaking my windicator I would try inverting it so the paddle was at the top. This would require some weight on the rod at the bottom...but that’s about it. The reason is so the paddle will be closer to the line of fire than it is now. I’m not sure it will make much difference, but it makes more sense on paper.
That’s kinda what I was thinking, most of the ones I’ve seen are with the paddle on top and gauge on the bottom. I shot next to a competitor last year that was using one like you described. His was purchased from a manufacturer of wind flags.
Thanks for the link Loufish! I’ll get some and try it. I’m going to be in for some frustration lol! I’m used to shooting groups and then abandoning a group as soon as it’s not small! I’ll give it my best shot! Now my bad shots are going to sick right in my face until I finish the card lol! Going to be fun to try.
Had time for one card yesterday in the crazy swirling wind of 12-20. I was quite surprised by my results. I actually slowed my velocity down and accuracy improved in the wind, which made me scratch my head why ??? Adjusted down from 995 to 960.
