Tuning Need a .30 Maverick Expert! +/- 30FPS swings with for no apparent reason! TONS of data inside!

HI
Thanx for sharing updates ,still the service rendered is not upto the mark but at-least the velocity consistency has been restored in this regards still i am curious to know what supposedly fx has changed and what do you think was the issue ? secondly previously it was mentioned by yourself that you had put a teflon tape on the grub screw adjascent to the barrel screw , is it still there. 3. pls do check the velocity of the first 2 shots post making the gun sit idle for some time or post changing the magazine
for a new set , generally it is lower than the remaining shots under such conditions.
awaiting your reply
I don't know what they did to fix the velocity fluctuations - or even if that is really fixed as I have only shot maybe 1 magazine out of it since getting it back. I am not touching that gun until they respond. Until then it will sit under my bed slowly leaking, as it has for 80% of its life, with the other 15% going back and forth to FX and maybe 5% actually being used... Teflon tape is still there, all that does is seal up the chamber from any small leaks that could possible vent around that screw when actually firing. I already posted my chrono readings above, which are time stamped...

Honestly I feel like smashing that gun on my driveway. Except I'm into the gun alone for over $1700 bucks soooooo I probably won't be doing that. If FX does nothing to help then I will install the new FX AMP reg I purchased and if that doesn't work I am going to cut my losses and stash it away as a parts gun in case I ever need anything off it for my perfectly functioning .22 Maverick Sniper.

I'll keep you guys updated here. This whole situation is just so frustrating.... I need a non-leaking .30 for coyotes this winter and right now I don't have one..

Hang in there bro , you still have the warranty and fx is liable to honour .

I received a reply from FX. Apparently they are moving facilities and expect to be back up 100% next week, which explains a lot. I really do appreciate the folks at FX, honestly, they are pretty responsive and seem to be trying to help. Much better customer care than a most other airgun companies out there. Having a facility in the US while being based in Sweden kinda shows their commitment to that. Fingers crossed everything turns out OK - I have a feeling it will...

This is crazy! I have had an issue with occasional low speeds on my .22 Maverick compact that mess up the spreads and std deviations but not the
accuracy. Now I’m hesitant to get it “repaired”!
I’d like to get this gun to 300 bar(from 250), but I’m not sure this wouldn’t amplify issues I already have or if it is even possible. Please keep us informed of your progress, ok?

Ok, well I do have an update. They sent a complete bottle adapter (reg, gauge, fill nipple & all!). That should definitely fix the leak out of the vent hole. I am still waiting on a new chassis to replace the one they damaged.

I just need to degas the thing and do the work, but I am confident this will fix it.

So good job, FX, even though it took several times sending it in and a pretty lengthy timeline, it WOULD appear that they do stand behind their stuff
(I've also been a great unpaid salesmen for them, having sold like 4 of my friends on buying a Maverick, plus countless strangers online)

And again, for the record, my other Maverick (.22 Sniper) is fricken flawless and I can easily shoot sparrows at 150 yards with it every time I take it out of the case. Even if it's been sitting for a while.

Well, hat's off to FX for sending me mad parts, because I finally just got this thing to pass all leak tests and it is sealed steadfastly! With the shot string I recorded/posted earlier being so consistent, I think we have a 100% fixed gun.

To summarize, the problems were:
Problem #1: +/- 30fps spreads for no apparent reason. The reason for that was a hammer that got all chewed up from the cocking handle set screws loosening up and allowing my hammer to whack the little cocking prong. This was causing some random drag on the hammer travel. New hammer fixed that part.
Problem #2 was leaking. Pretty bad out of the front vent hole. Turns out I was right about the tiny nick I observed on the OD of the brass reg housing where it seals up to the ID oring inside the bottle adapter. I had polished that nick up with like 3000 or 4000 grit sandpaper - so either I took off too much or not enough. Either way, changing that out corrected that leak. Also the FX tech had the first reg completely bypassed by having 13 belleville washers in there rather than the factory number of 11 bellevilles.... so I changed that back also and set it at 180.

Gun is set at 180/130 for winter hunting (since the plenum pressure usually goes up 10bar due to the cold). Following Rallyshark's advice, I'm just gonna sight it in during cold conditions since that is the environment it will get used in for coyote hunting.

Thanks for all the participation here. I think this concludes this thread, having solutions to both issues!
