Evening everyone,

Friday I did a bit of target practice for the first time since October. First shooting of any kind actually. It went well and I felt I wouldn’t embarrass myself at this morning’s match. I was right, shot my best score ever but still didn’t make the finals, no surprise. The younger shooters are VERY good, they do the work and it shows. I have two very good target rifles and they are outstanding but a bit heavy. Does anyone make a rifle in .177 that can use a peep site and weighs under 7 pounds? I need an excuse to buy another rifle.

The Crosman Challenger 2021 is a very good lightweight target rifle. From a bench rest with a scope it gets edged out by my Walther LG400 for precision groups. However, when standing freehand my skills are not good enough to tell the difference. The Crosman is so light that I like to add weight to steady my hold. There is a lot of plastic in the chassis and that makes it sort of “feel” cheap. However if that doesn’t bother you, the Crosman Challenger 2021 might be a good choice.

I have never known anyone shooting in any form of accuracy competition that wanted less weight. The general consensus is weight equals stability in rifles, handguns, and archery. Care to expand on your goals?

Think that a HW30 with an aperture sight is a good place to start.

It's not a "10 meter" airgun but it's accurate and has a decent trigger. Size, weight, and cocking force is suitable for young shooters.

Cheers!
Agree weight is not bad and it is one of the easiest if not the easiest cocking springers I have seen.
