Need advice about air tank for Benjamin Marauder .22

Hey guys!! I just ordered a Benjamin Marauder .22 and need some help about what air tank I will need to use with this rifle.
I wonder what size/volume air tank I will need and how many full refills will I get for the different size tanks.
Also, I checked with a local dive shop and they said they always refill tanks for airgunners but they do air only and not CO2. Does it make a difference whether to refill the tank with air or CO2?

I'm fairly new to PCP's so I need to know what's the best option for air tank that works well with this rifle?

Thank you all.

First off CO2 tanks are usually rated for 1800psi, while HPA tanks are 3000, 3300, or 4500 (generally). The most useful tank for your MRod would be a 4500psi tank. These are generally SCBA tanks and are rated by minutes of usual air. 30min, 45min and 60min most common. My advise, especially if you are longer distance from fill station is get the biggest one you can afford. Here is a link to a chart to see how many "fills" you will get from a particular tank. It changes depending on how you have your gun tuned. Foir a decent estimate I would use a gun fill pressure of 3000psi with a refill at 2000. This could change depending on your tune. I think the MRod tank is 215cc.

If you get a regular SCBA tank and a fill assembly with a gauge you will have no problem filling the gun and stopping at the pressure you want. I usually just barely crack open my valve until the needle just starts to move. The slower you fill the less heat that builds up. I would guess I take 30sec to a min to fill my 13ci bottle, which is the same volume as your MRod.

My 2 cents. I started with a .25 marauder last year. The dive shop by me raped me charging me 18 dollars to fill my 75 cubic inch tank. I found a paint ball place that charges me 3 dollars and a lot of times nothing. They fill to about 4000 psi.
Second item is when you fill your marauder take some time to figure out where your best pressure curve is for accuracy. I never touched a thing in my .25 marauder and it shot really well between 2700 and 2100 psi. I was only wasting air filling to 3000 psi. The first few shots were always off until I got down to 2700 psi then it stacked the pellets one right after another.
i ended up enjoying air rifles I up graded to the Impact in October.
Have fun

@ztirffritz That's a good idea, to build your own. I don't think I can afford something like that for the time being, but it's a good idea for when I have saved enough money. Thanks for your advice.

@ashes5 It's good to know that the rifle shoots better within a specific range of fill pressure. I would have to take mine to the range and find out the best fill pressure for shots. Do paint ball places fill air or CO2 only? And thank you very much for your input.

Stryker IMO this is the place to get your CF 4500 psi tank and set-up. They are American made including all the fittings. They use quality, accurate and easily readable pressure gages. They offer three sizes of tanks and as stated in their website their large Great White 97cu. ft will fill a Marauder about 63 times from 3000 psi down to 2000psi. I have no connection to this company and just believe they offer great quality products. Give them a call and they will set you right up. Bill

I think you would be better served with a 4500 carbon fiber tank. The fill assembly will run you right around $100 (used) for a good one. Just put up a WTB add on all of the air gun sights.
You can get a 4500SCBA tank with 3-6 years left fro right around $100 shipped on Ebay.I got mine for like $79.
Just need to check the Hydro, some are current, some not. I paid $30 to have my tank tested.

Here are some examples

Search and you can find some decent deals. Just remember the 15yr life span on CF tanks

"Stryker100"Is this a good deal to start with? I only shoot on weekends since I don't have time otherwise, so I might not end up using too much air every week.

And according to the website you shared, looks like I'll get around 10-11 fills for this tank before I need to refill the tank.
To fill the Mrod? NO - that tank regulator will only give you about 850psi output, If it were a Ninja regulator you could increase the pressure with belleville washers, but I do not think there is room inside the Myth reg's for an increase.

BigTinBoat, what does all this mean? "Put up a WTB add on all of the air gunsights"...what is a WTB? Are scuba tanks rated on how many years they last? ( I never heard of that before!). "Just need to check the Hydro"...what is a 'hydro'?

WTB = WANT TO BUY

SCBA (not to be confused with SCUBA) are CARBON FIBER tanks and in the US they are not to be used after 15 years from their date of manufacturer

HYDRO - Hyrdostatic test date - Carbon Fiber tanks must be Hydrostatically tested every 5 years (some are every 3 years) or they cannot be commercially filled, or transported legally

Wow! BigTinBoat, thank you for clarifying this for me! I'm planning on ordering a Marauder in .177. I don't hunt except the fool of a blue jay who is stupid enough to come by and maybe some blackbirds. No squirrels around here. So, targets and some birds. .177 has worked in my Gamo Whisper springer so am researching the Marauder. I also see that I will need "extras" such as a tank. I think my compressor is a 75 psi at home so probably not strong enough to fill a scba (and thanks for clarifying that, too) and 'hydro'. So, a regular SCUBA tank, does that also need to be hydro tested? Wow, so much I never heard about and much to learn!

Yes a SCUBA tank needs Hyrdo every 3 years and "visual" every year (I think). This is due to the fact that SCUBA tank do under water and the inspector needs to look for "corrosion" and rust. Some SCUBA tanks are steel, others Alum. As long as a SCUBA tank passes HYDRO it is good. There are ones from the 50's and 60's still in use today, probably some even older. Scuba limits you to 3K PSI, SCBA tanks are usually 4500 or the have low pressure ones that are 2216psi (these will do an airgunner virtually no good)
