I got a .177 and a .22 which one would be better for shooting rabbits in the heart and lungs from 20-35 yards?

Rabbits (cottontails) are pretty easy quarry to dispatch. I wouldn't hesitate to use a well placed .177 @ 35 yards.
I favor .177's in low-mid power guns. Less trajectory issue, easier shot placement. For me, the impact, penetration, tissue damage, wound channel, etc etc, is a non issue. Accurate placement comes first.

ok THANKS for the opinion im gonna go for a hunt at 6:10 am and i was a little indecisive on what gun to use

I'd use a .22 caliber and go for a head shot. Your rabbit is still going to run for cover when hit in the"pocket" { heart/lung} raising the probability of loosing it in cover. At 35 yards with a good tripod , you should be able to head shoot them pretty easily.
