Need help figuring out what hand pump is needed for PCP Airguns. New to this.

Pay attention to what PCP you're going to buy don't get one that takes 4500 to 5,000 lb to fill it up by a lower pressure gun
That's a good point. Its worth knowing filling up a gun with a hand pump can be a bit of a workout. I kept both my sons and my gun in my workout area and would fill them both up with each workout. At the time my son didn't weigh enough to even fill his up. :ROFLMAO:

Personally I think people make way to much over this particular item. When I first started in the hobby I was scarred away from 4500psi fill airguns - and I missed out on a lot of airguns I would have liked. What you need to realize is they DO NOT NEED to be filled to 4500 psi. Now almost all my guns are 300 bar capable, but I still just fill them to 250 bar.

What I would be hesitant to do is recommend a .30 caliber air hog to someone who wants to hand pump. Or something with a 700cc bottle.

As far as the OPs question, I've never hand pumped. But from all the threads I've read through I am of the impression that the Amazon Chinese hand pumps will work just as well for $60 as the $2-300 name brand ones.

Whatever model you choose, make sure to avoid excessive heat. Heat equals moisture. Moisture is bad in PCP's. Do 50 or 100 pumps at a time to take it easy on the rifle, pump and you. Use your whole body when pumping and go slowly.

This compressor is about the same price as a pump.
