FX Need Help Form You FX Royale Guys

I just acquired a Royale 500 25 cal. It came with a aftermarket moderator not the original shroud. With the moderator on the gun shoots 1" plus groups at 50 yds. With it off it will shoot 1/2" groups or better a 50 yds. So my question is can a factory shroud be purchased? I looked on FX's site and found nothing. If not what aftermarket moderator would you recommend that will not effect accuracy.

Thanks Les

This UK store gives reasonable shipping to the US (I purchased from them multiple times).

This Huggett shroud seems similar to the long shrouds that the factory Royales came with.

I think an easier fix would be to find a moderator that doesn’t clip as that I assume is probably what is going on. Buck rail has mods that work really well and are cheap, like 40 bucks. Would be a cheap place to start. Get one in .30 cal so it is a bit over sized. I have the buck rail mod in .30 and it works excellent on my .30 Vulcan 3 and .25 Skout epoch.

Does the after-market moderator use the OE air stripper? The muzzle threads for the factory air stripper are the standard moderator threads, so any brand should fit. Some barrels shoot better with the air stripper and moderator body combination that the FX design uses, and some shoot fine with a moderator that uses its own internal design. Since your rifle doesn't shoot well with the moderator you're using, and assuming it isn't clipping, that suggests that the air management in its design just doesn't work well with that barrel. Unfortunately, there is no way to know which one will work best. I suggest getting a .30 caliber model.

The huggett shroud is nice. Quieter than the factory shroud, but a couple inches longer and bit bigger in diameter. It does come with its own air stripper. As mentioned, the end of the barrel will accept 1/2" x20 unf mods. If you don't want to go those routes, factory parts are available. You just need the shroud cone, shroud, muzzle, shroud compensator (air stripper), and the oring that goes with it. There's a set screw in there as well. I don't have the part numbers in front of me, but they are available on the FX website.

If it were my Royale 500 the choice would be for the Huggett Shroud
Not inexpensive, but at today's exchange rate it's still under $200 (plus shipping)

The backup plan in my book would be attaching an Altaros "long" 25 cal directly to the barrel
It is surprisingly affordable too.

Hope this helps
Ed

SilentSquirrel do you know how much length the Huggett adds to the end of the barrel?
No, I do not @lhandy.
But you could most likely find out directly from Huggett

While at it you probably should verify whether or not they will ship to the U.S

Also
I reread @kevin10's post
He seems to think that factory parts are available.
If they are, then that would be my first choice, without a doubt

Attached is a Royale parts schematic and list from which you should be able to identify the parts and part numbers.
Then an email to Utah Airguns will most likely get answers to price, availability, and other questions
[email protected]

Note that the list has 2 different length shrouds on it
My Royale 500 uses the longer of the 2

PS
I text as if I know WTF I'm doing and have lots of experience
As much as I was able to make a career on that ability, it just ain't true
I'm learning too, just like you.

I’ve ordered huggetts from both krale and airgun heaven. No issues shipping to the US. I would check some of the british sites for parts first. Bagnall and kirkwood, chambers, and airgun spares. They show what parts are available/in stock. Utah orders from fx directly I guess, so they can get more parts, but it took at least 4 weeks to arrive to them. I’ve ordered parts a few times from Utah, and communication was hit or miss.
