Never thought I’d be thinking this…..

Hey Buddy, I generally keep to no further than 40yds. I’m .177 user and limited to 12ftlb. I have done loads of pest control with my Daystates on my golf course permission with rabbits mainly. I haven’t took my Walther yet as I feel I’ve a lot more improvement to make. The gun is more than capable……it’s me that’s not!

I also have a HW97 that my brother has been using for about 3 years that I’m getting back soon. There will be am learning curve there too. No complaints from me though my friend, it’s the learning and reacquainting myself that’s the most fun.

Whilst I’ll never criticise a pre charged rifle, there is a certain purity about a springer. A very simple yet effective method of shooting a tiny lump of lead through pieces of paper or an unfortunate pest. Spring, piston, breech, barrel and stock. Simples!
I take my TX200 out periodically.
You’re right about simplicity. It’s like comparing a canoe to a bass boat. Purity.

I had a nice springer that belongs to a burgler now. I was so disappointed that I changed hobbies although I never stopped shooting I was just serious about the new hobby. The hobby became a buisiness, and ultimately failed as I burned out.
Not too long after that, a new job, and a new house with yard. I built a new pellet trap, and started over with a few guns the burgler missed, like my HW70, and my Sheridan. I really do appreciate recoiless shooting, that is why I bought, and like, shooting my HW75, better than my HW70. It is plenty challenging to shoot tiny targets at longer ranges with a recoiless gun.
My bottom line is have fun! There are many way to challenge yourself, just have fun.

Exactly, when the fun stop, stop!

Hmmm, the burgler ! Wouldn’t you just love to meet up for a ‘chat’! 😂😂😂

I would like to at least see the old gun, and meet its new owner. It has probably changed hands a few times, as it was stolen the first weekend in January 1995, on Sunday while we were at church.
It was a collectors item, one of fifty made. So someone has it in a collection somewhere.

Hey Willy, oooh yeahhhh. You’ve the LGU. Exactly the same internals and barrel. Such a beautiful gun with a little mythical status here in the UK. Mine’s an absolute keeper, other things will come on go…..my Walther stays. 👍👍👍

Well, I’ve been shooting PCPs now for over 20 years which ended up with me owning two Daystates, one Wolverine R and one Red Wolf. Thing is, I’ve recently bought a Walther LGV which has turned my life upside down. I’ve sold the Wolverine and about to sell my Red Wolf to a friend. Whenever I’ve been to my club, the PCPs didn’t even come out. I’m finding the feeling of hitting bullseyes with the springer much more exciting than the PCPs. I’m having to reawaken long lost skills and enjoying every moment. I’m not suggesting that one type is better than the other, it’s just that I find the PCPs too clinical (this even more so with the electronic trigger on the RW!). Hitting a bull with either of the Daystates was just kind of expected. Not so with the springer. Has anybody else taken this route? Most I know have moved on to PCPs.

I posted a similar post here in the UK and got some fantastic discussions going with some in agreement and others thinking I was nuts. :):)

Here is the culprit!

Yup, I went from springers to pcp, then back to springers. Just too much hassle with external doo-hickys to drag along to charge the thing.
A springer requires nothing but a tin of pellets and away you go.

Kinda like EVs or big V8s, both get you there quick but feel very different doing so.
Great comparison that….. soulless EVs!

There’s a member on a UK forum who is new to air gunning that’s asked if there’s a PCP air gun that provides a little recoil.

Just about every member has told him to buy a springer! 😂😂😂

*snick* nice !!! i am into springers now also , the last PCP i bought is a MAC1 in lefty , what a wonderful gun . i would bet in the few months i have owned it i have put maybe 15 pellets thru it , truely ! just got a HW77 long a few weeks ago and now on my 4th tin .
