Check out these new 25 cal air pistols from Innovairtech:

These are 25 cal PCP pistols that actually look like regular powder burners and are powerful enough to hunt with... they are 5 round repeaters that use smaller versions of their air cartridges.

I've been on the fence about air guns that use air cartridges instead of a central air supply. I like the idea in principle but the execution of it has sucked every single time without exception so far.

The first ones from this company, the "Mac 35" were no exception imo. They only shot slugs well, not pellets. They only came as unshrouded big Bores. The cartridges leaked but, worst of all, the cartridges were / are so expensive that they made the entire concept 100% pointless. It only works if you can easily afford at least as many cartridges as you get shots per fill with a regular PCP.

I'll be watching with interest to see if they do a better job on these smaller caliber revolvers. If they only come with 3 cartridges like the Mac 35 and / or the cartridges cost anything close to a similar price, I definitely don't want one. If they fixed this issue though, it might renew my interest. Fixing it means the airguns come with at least 30 cartridges because I wouldn't buy any other 22 or 25 cal that got less than 30 shots per fill these days.

Is anyone else excited by the potential for 22 or 25 cal cartridge PCP guns?

Well, the price is right and the pictures fantastic. Immediate airgun lust, but I live near Silicon Valley and Vaporware is announced like the weather- everyday and everywhere you go.
Your thoughts about the past performance with this technology rings true. Someone is going to get this right one day, but I'll be waiting for owners results over time before I risk letting the moths out of my wallet...

I like it for the cool factor. I wouldn't be excited about filling all those cartridges and having to bleed off all that air after each fill. Meaning, with a regular PCP that gets 30 shots, you have to bleed off the hose once. With these cartridges you would be doing that 30 times. That's a lot of air to waste. I do like the idea though. I'm still on the "not yet" side of the fence though.

They need to create some type of bulk fill adapter to allow you to fill 20 or 30 at a time to exactly the same air pressure. if they don't, each cartridge will have less air than the previous one as the pressure in your scba tank goes down.

I think it would make a million times more sense to adapt the concept to one where the air is stored in a removable mag. I.e. Each mag holds enough air for the number of pellets it holds and then you carry as many mags as you need. This is how the mini Uzi co2 full auto BB gun works and it's obviously a better idea.

filling 3 or 4 10 round mags sounds far less annoying than 30 individual cartridges to exactly the same pressure. It would be less expensive too and surely the whole point is that you can bring as much as you need without adding too much bulk and weight to the gun.

The way these cartridges work currently, each one is like it's own air gun. They each have their own dump valve and just like how two FX
Wildcat will perform a little differently, so will each cartridge.

"k_h_d"How many shots will it get on one cylinder? It seems like a hand pump would fill those tiny cylinders very quickly.

EDIT, I just watched a video. Single shot per cartridge. wow...
Yeah they try to make it like a powder burner in how it operates. The talk track from those guys is that, just like a pb, you carry as many shots as you need.

It sounds great until you see the current price of the cartridges and compare the set up to a regular PCP gun. If they have any sense at all, they will have found a way to reduce the price of the cartridges by at least 75% by the time the new models are released.

The point they need to get through their heads is that all of the supposed benefit of not running out of air can be quite easily achieved by guns with removable cylinders. The Hatsan ATP1 and P2, for example. Plus, other guns have the convenience of needing filling once instead 30 times.

That leaves the novelty, which will wear off, so they need to get the price down. They need to make them quiet too. Hardly anyone wants an air gun that can only be used where you could use a powder burner.

Still, the cartridge thing would be cool if used to make a realistic double barrel sawn-off style PCP gun. That's not legal to own as a powder burner so there is an actual advantage.

Loosing my Rights over 20 years ago, I wouldn't be interested in that even if it came with the cylinders, was in .357 mag, and had the same power.

It's not because it's loud. I see a 9mm/357 rifle for sale right now for like $300.00. Now I know why. No one else wants to fill cylinders either for each shot.

I never ever leave my house. I could legally carry that openly but never would, just like I never wanted a CC for my hand guns.

I think they wasted a lot of time on R&D, CAD, programming, machining, materials, everything.

is the company still in business? looks like a brocock to me.. I had a brocock 22 snub nose revolver and after I put better o rings in the cartridges they were great.. wish I still had it.. however my brocock was a early model where they turned out the side of the cylinder.. the cartridges were about the same size as a 357 but shot 22 pellets.. by having the cylinder turned out if someone would have tried to do a homemade conversion to powder gun.. first time they fired it it would have blown up.. but unfortunately brocock tried to get more realistic and started not turning out the side of the cylinder and of course someone had to drill out the barrel and then commit a crime and the whole thing was outlawed in the UK.. I thought it looked good with the brass cartridges showing.. just wish I would have stayed on top of it and kept mine and also got the single six and golden boy Winchester lever action rifle.. as I remember there cartridges were not that expensive..

if anyone knows if anything like this is available please let me know..

Which thing is different in this sentence? Herpes, AIDS, Inovairteck guns, gonorrhena?

Gonorrhea it’s the only thing you can get rid of.

I used to see one on AA Classifieds for many months that was touted to be the answer to all things and could do everything, but sell.

It seems that I read getting a similar velocity from each cartridge was a big problem, being a sucker for 19th century single shots, I would own that Remington rolling block that Mrodair could never sell if I thought if had a stable velocity. A cascade system would work well for getting the air pressure consistent.

Hope they are successful.

I had big hopes for Inovairtech, the revolver interested me and also the western style lever action they where showing really interested me.

I like the Idea of dump cartriges and with those multiple fill stations you could get them pretty equal,.....not for high power but I think that system would suit well .25 or .30 slugs shooters.

Looks like AEA is kinda developing something along the same lines,...fingers crossed.

tor47.. I am just curious what guns you have available that don't look like firearms.. everything I have seen in one way or another from a distance looks like some type of gun.. and they are now making CO2 guns that even the police can't tell the difference without handling them.. I agree should look at least a little different than a firearm.. kids get shot now because of this plus not taught to listen to the authorities..
