New acquisition for FT, very good, but still tweaking!

The Steyr has a nice barrel, but there have been many reports of the nickel plating getting in the bore and flaking off over time. If this is happening with yours it will call for frequent cleaning. Check shootingthebreeze.com for a wealth of information on the LG 100/110. As mark404 mentioned, if AZ beds the barrel you won't be able to swap barrels or re-index the one you have. Also, mark404 mentioned the external velocity adjuster that includes a new style hammer and spring. You may want to ask AZ about this upgrade.

"strikefast"Mark, Yes he's pinning the bolt on mine too. As well as a new moderator to remove the bulldog look with the extended tank. Also bedding the barrel and what not. He said he would try to get to it before Christmas. That was when I first called last month before shipping. I don't know if that ment to get it started or to have it ready before then.

I told him I was not in a rush and just take his time to get it right. Just need it for a month or so before next years FT nationals in Michigan.

When he called yesterday I thought he was going to tell me bad news until he laid out the gun info.
What is meant by pinning the bolt?

True, I believe the adjuster requires the stock to be routed anyway. I will think about it. I need to watch the Styer Waffen film again.

This rifle will only see one pellet in it's career as my field target competion rifle. I won't be doing any adjusting of the velocity unless it drops off for some reason. The money is not an issue, keeping it simple is. I follow the K.I.S.S. principle, which works well.... Lol

I will ask. But I did tell him to do what it takes to get the gun right. It was printing under a dime at 50 yds with no wind before I sent it to him.

He is indexing the barrel for max accuracy and more. Once it is set it will only be used for FT comps as I said in the previous post.

As for the plating, I had heard about that with the Styer barrels. The barrel on this gun is an Anschutz barrel. I don't know if they had the same problem. It actually looks like SS....

I'm familiar with pinning, AZ is doing my gun. The gun prefers 18.13 JSBs now. Will see how it dios on it's return. I have plenty to experiment with. My Daystate hated any pellets lighter then 8.4s and tree the heavier pellets off the POA. It shoots the JSB and H&H 8.4 the same.

Have to get back to finishing up making some field targets for an order..thanks you all for the input and advice.....

scrane, I talked to AZ on the external velocity adjuster the other day. I told him I was only going to route out the stock and use a small screwdriver to adjust it if needed. I would make a window for the side locking screw. I have a friend whose rifle was done like this.

Guess What? He told me he already did the exact thing to my Styer Already!. I found out that when he sells a Styer he makes this modification to the guns before he lets them go. My friends gun actually is one that AZ sold to the fellow my friend bought it from...

Ok, The Styer is done and has been shipped yesterday. I am excited to see how it will perform. I got the gun used but Allen was able to tell me some info on it. It was made around 2005-6 (he could not recall exactly) as it was made in only one year where they used a metal valve? or something to that effect. It has a Anshultz barrel at 16".
Allen rebuilt the regulator and set it to 120 BAR. The speed is at 875 FPS where I had it, and preferred it.
He routed out the rear of the stock like I mentioned to him I was going to do, to allow for external adjustment of the speed. (During one of our conversations I told him I intended to do this when the gun came back, but he said he already did it, Nice)!
He bedded the barrel and free floated the barrel from the front frame
He made a moderator to fit the extended air tube, bead blasted and sprayed it to match the anodized frame
He pinned the bolt for perfect pellet placement each time it is closed
He modified the transfer port to calibrate it to the pinned bolt
Adjusted the trigger to 1.5 oz.
Just waiting on Big Brown to come now..........Paul

And ( as far as I know) that is pretty much all that needs to be done to them, should be a shooter now.
