New air shotgun

@Cheplicki This looks promising. Right now I'm aware of the Seneca Wing Shot II, Seneca Double Barrel, PBBA Pro air shotgun, and this here Serpent Arms air shotgun. I guess you can throw in the Gamo Viper Express smooth-bore .22 spring-pistom airgun as well (don't know much about this one). I'm still waiting to see what's going on with the release of Umarex Primal air shotgun.

@Cheplicki I looked on the Serpent Arms site and what's not clear is if the shells are reusable. They're $1 each so I wonder. I imagine that the colored caps fly off and are hard to find or possibly damaged or destroyed, but how about the shells? Where do they go once you take a shot?
If u can find them u can reuse them.. iv shot about 20 or so she'll and have only found 5.. lol there was no damage to it so I believe it would be fine to reuse

I have the gamo varmint shotgun 22 smooth bore spring break barrel.. and I reload the shells, since you take them out when you break it, unless you drop them you can put them in your pocket.. my reloads are 3-5 BB.. 3 equils the original loaded weight and it goes out 1100fps..
I used a piece of the potato starch packing peanut and tamp it in tightly with a 16 penny nail with the point ground off.. then added BB s and another piece of peanut.. they work well, I have not bought a bag of #8 -#12 shot to try matching factory loads.
years ago I had a ARS Farco 28 gauge shotgun.. it was pretty good and you could use 454 lead balls in a plastic sabot.. extra shells could be made out of 1" long x 1/2" PVC pipe.. I don't think they are around much anymore.. one I wish I'd have been able to keep but life got in the way

That’s what’s nice about that swa .20 I bought an extra cartridge so they each hold 3 shots so I load one with tungsten number 9 if hunting turkey and other with Jsb slugs for what I may run into east to quickly swap out fills to 3600 psi get 3 good shots you can push it to 4 but drops off

I’ve never shot an air shotgun but I want one. To be clear - the shell flies out of the end of the barrel, correct?
That is correct with this and the two Seneca air shotguns, with the PBBA only the wads and shot leave the chamber which makes it very nice but the PBBA is long, heavy and expensive. PBBA's have long barrels to make up for only using 3000psi.

@Chief55 The Senecas seem to use a cellulose type of material for shells if I remember correctly. I thought those are disposable and meant for single shot use.

They feel like a thin plastic and they are not to bad lots of people use 2 back to back for a 1/2oz load but you have to be careful to have them in the chamber far enough forward so you don't get any blow back. I like muzzleloading them myself but I have had blackpowder muzzleloading shotguns so it is nothing new to me. You have more control of what you want for wads and shot that way. If I want to shoot a 1/2oz load no problem if I want to shoot 1oz load no problem. The limit is power with a Seneca as they only have a 22.5 inch barrel at 3000psi so you just will not get the velocity of the higher priced guns but you can make up for that some by using heavier shot at the expense of not having as tight of a pattern unless you use tungsten shot which is crazy expensive.

I think the PBBA would be the best option if a person has no problem with walking around with a 9.5# gun. The shells are easy to reload and it is tuned for shooting a 1oz load of shot. The Serpent would be way more cost affective if you are willing to muzzleload it rather than using the shells. Which is very easy to do. I get a big kick out of shooting #2.5 (29cal) buckshot out of my wingshot, to much fun.

@Chief55 Thanks for sharing your experience with the Seneca air shotgun. I saw that the shells were thin. I’m not sure where I got the idea that the Seneca shells may be made of cellulose. I could be mistaken on that, but I was pretty sure that they were not reusable. How many shots can you get from a 3000 psi fill? I’ve watch several videos and read a decent amount on air shotguns. I’m still undecided, BUT when I decide upon one I don’t want to have to wait for months before I receive it. That’s a drawback on the PBBAs for me and they’re more expensive than the others I’ve seen.

I’m curious about the shot count and fill pressure on the Serpant Arms air shotgun.

3 shots, they all get 3 shots, but to me the biggest factor with any of these guns is the weight you have to carry in the woods but I am getting long in the tooth so it means a lot to me. So if I had no issues with spending lots of money, this is were my wife comes into play, lol, or to stop my play. Anyways if cost wasn't an option I would go with the Serpent. The wingshot is 7# the Serpent is 6+# but more powerful with the 4300 psi fill and longer barrel as I said it would be easy to muzzleload using fiber wads from a online muzzleloading gun shop and if you wanted something like a 5ml plastic test tube with cap depending on the OD of the tube. I use 2ml test tubes for mine, I think having something as a shot cup gives tighter paterns and if the cup is only open at the front and can not expand in flight it will act like a choke. Using the plastic tubes I don't feel a need to use a choke.

.72 caliber air rifles
Well there is this but again a heavy gun to carry but not a problen in a blind. They are saying that the Serpent will do a ten short string. That is awesome.
