Other New Airacuda Max

The way I see it is there are a lot of these rifles out there. If a bad one pops up we defiantly are going to hear about it. The odds look like there are more good guns than bad. I rolled the dice because of pyramid airs money back policy . Believe me if this is a dud I will get on here once and complain
Reliability of many airgun brands is not great, even in 2024,
10-20-30% of the same model may have problems.

Having the option to send them back for 60 days is a great way to deal with that.

Let those airgun manufacturer fix their duds and lose the money they tried to save.

If you want to look further at one, get ahold of Travis directly and ask him if all of those issues are resolved first.

Last I heard, you could not attach a moderator to the MAX.
As a new Max owner (purchased in Oct 2024), there is no moderator adapter.
Xisico/JTS decided to permanently loctite the cap on the adapter.

They likely did that to avoid fixing problems related to the barrel/shroud/adapter alignment.

I have had a .22 for over a year now. Never tried to attach a mod so don’t know about that. No need the 22 is quiet. It’s been great. Granted I don’t use it a lot but it’s been great. I pulled it out last week after sitting months and the first shot was within 10 fps of where it settled in consistently. I believe the first shot was 875 and then settled into the low to mid 880’s for five consecutive shots. Pretty impressive.

Could be a @+f violation for them to do so now ( chip , chip , chip away your 2ed) silencer laws .

I assume you can still remove the shroud to remove the barrel ? Lol

I had a first Gen .22, it got recalled...

I had the .22 and .25 Gen ll, normal production run.

I had the .177, .22 and .25 Gen lll, normal production run.

No early or late production runs, middle serial numbers. First gen all leaked, there was a recall. Second gen had dry orings and some poor regulators. Gen 3 had mag issues, stock issues, leaks, broken poppets and more.

I returned 4 guns total.
Jeez man, I would hate to have that kind of luck.

The one dar gen 3 .25 I tried was amazing, I dont like shooting .25 but that gun was super nice to cock, feed, shoot. It only took 5 shots to sight it in and it kept going.

I am finally happy enough with my .22 Airacuda Max that is a few weeks old.

These are the issues I had:
  • moderator adapter does not exist as expected
Spent at least 1 hour trying to remove the cap off it.
But the cap is permanently attched to the moderator, probably using permanent thread locker.
This was probably done to fix alignment issues which would result in pellete clipping.
  • leaked in the first few days
Spent 5-6 hours chasing leaks and burnishing a valve (first time doing that).

Based on what I have seen I seem to be one of the lucky buyers.

I like it now for the under $300 price spent for a new one.

Ok I now have 120 pellets through the gun. So far no leaks and she's shootin like a dream. The compressor I bought works very well and I am pleased with it.This gun is dead nuts accurate I have smoked 10 sparrows at 55 yards already . I probably will not pick up my two break barrels for a long time.

With my .22 Air Max, the accuracy is not great past 50-60 yards with the 2 pellets I tried (Norma domed 17.6 grain and CPHP).
Maybe I will have to spend more time figuring out what pellets it likes.

In accuracy the Airacuda Max is behind my Nova Liberty, Air Venturi Avenger, Gamo Urban and even Crosman Icon with the pellets mentione above.

With the 3200PSI fill it only gives you 40 - 45 shots at 31-32 FPE.
My Nova Liberty and Air Venturi Avenger will give you 65-70 shots (at 31-32 FPE) because of their 4200 PSI fill.

Not very impressed with the Airacuda Max so far.
To me is not worth the $400+ MSRP.
