I just got a new Airacuda Max .22
I just got the rifle out of the box and noticed these two holes and it looks like oil has been leaking from them. Can someone tell me what these holes are for? Thanks

Barrel hold down grub screws, the oil helps keep corrosion out and keep the materials from galling.

Completely normal.

I don't own the Max but, I have the Standard model and have shot thousands of rounds.......Completely normal, enjoy your new JTS!
Hopefully this weekend I can get shooting it. I have read several people have had some issues with the max but for the amount of rifles sold it is a small amount of problems I took the gamble I would get a good one. If not I will send it back.

There were four defects on the MAX that I discovered and reported to Travis Whitney, who is the T in JTS.

1.) The stocks were inletted too deep and tightening the stock bolt resulted in bending the receiver and pinching the mags. A printed filler was sent to me to fix this.

2.) The hole in the side of the hammer guide tube that allowed the air to pass from the tube to the outside was blocked by the wooden stock. I had to carve that out to get the hammer to fall freely.

3.) The shrouds were banana shaped and were not square at the ends and the threading was very sloppy. I chucked my shrouds up in my lathe and squared them and straightened them as best I could.

4.) There was a 1/2X20 UNF adapter attached to the End of the shroud but it didn't align well to the barrel and people had clipping issues with external moderators. This was solved by JTS by permanently bonding the thread protector to the adapter making it impossible to attach a moderator.

I hope that was a free preproduction airgun meant for discovering problems.

well dang! I was considering adding on to the collection but in 25 cal. I guess I can rule that one out. I have seen other complaints as well.
The way I see it is there are a lot of these rifles out there. If a bad one pops up we defiantly are going to hear about it. The odds look like there are more good guns than bad. I rolled the dice because of pyramid airs money back policy . Believe me if this is a dud I will get on here once and complain

If you want to look further at one, get ahold of Travis directly and ask him if all of those issues are resolved first.

Last I heard, you could not attach a moderator to the MAX.

I thought about one of those but there are more complaints about those than the JTS
The gen 3 or gen 2? First hand experience it was a dream to shoot.
No sir, its not.

I owned all three calibers of the DAR lll (the Max's father, both made by Xisco) and it had magazine indexing issues. I gave the .22 DAR to my son to play with.
Strange, did you get early models?

Gen 3 was what I searched. I think all these rifles got issues. It sucks I have been forced to go the PCP route if I still want to shoot. My shoulder got wasted from cancer so I can’t cock my break barrels. Oh well hopefully I got a good one

I had a first Gen .22, it got recalled...

I had the .22 and .25 Gen ll, normal production run.

I had the .177, .22 and .25 Gen lll, normal production run.

No early or late production runs, middle serial numbers. First gen all leaked, there was a recall. Second gen had dry orings and some poor regulators. Gen 3 had mag issues, stock issues, leaks, broken poppets and more.

I returned 4 guns total.
