New Airgunner! Advice Needed

Hi Everyone,

complete newbie here so bear with me, I know nothing! 

I got an Air Venturi 74 cu.ft 4500 psi tank.

How many times should that fill a Wx Wildcat MK2 .25?

i year some of you buy a compressor and then some saying ‘why didn’t you just do bottled Nitrogen’....what’s the difference or pros/cons?

Do any of you just get an airgas company just to deliver refill tanks of gas to you when needed?

i asked my local Fire Department which is about 500 yards away if I could use their compressor and they had no clue what I was talking about

An airgun store is about 25 mins away. I doubt my gun club has anything like a compressor either

fenian if you go to the site hawkeye69 said you can work out the numbers. But i did a quick estimate. Your gun holds 230cc of air filled to 3300psi. If you shoot it from 3300psi down to 1800 psi and refill you will get approximately 23.8 fills back up to 3300psi. Im not sure what pressure that regulated gun falls off the rgulator at. So im just guessing at that 1800psi number. If it can shoot down to 1500psi you will get 19.8 fills back to 3300psi. Hope this helps.

it sounds like buying a compressor is the way to go. Hand pump seems like a pain. It’s a 25 minute drive each way to the store. Time is my most limited thing lately, any particular pumps anyone can recommend buying? Should I buy them with extra dry filters or anything to watch out for?



it seems like some Chinese pumps are rebranded and sold at double the price but use the same parts as the $1300+ pumps

There are as many opinions as there are airgunners. The "use nitrogen" crowd prefers it over compressed air because nitrogen contains no moisture so has no possibility of rusting your tank or rifle cylinder. If you are a newbie, my recommendation is to get your tank filled elsewhere like a dive shop or paintball shop until you get more familiar with handling high pressure air. Renting a nitrogen cylinder is cumbersome, fairly expensive to rent, and requires a fairly expensive regulator to operate safely. It is for high air consumption airgunners or clubs. Personally, I don't see the economics of nitrogen tank rentals. Compressors are getting fairly inexpensive compared to years past but I'd not recommend you invest in one until you've gotten comfortable with using your tank. I'd recommend a compressor over a nitrogen tank rental but I think you should save that investment for sometime in the future when you know you'll use it at least once a month. If you're filling your tank twice a year you don't need a compressor. If and when you do invest in one, it helps tremendously to do your due diligence and learn to operate one safely. 4500 psi compressors take knowledge and care to use properly.
