New Chaser

Hi folks,
So I took some advice and purchased a Chaser in .22 cal. I found a cheap red dot and didn’t hesitate to install it. I easily removed the front sight (it’s so damn ugly) and reinstalled the thread protector. Reading mixed reviews of the magazine I only purchased one.
Range review;
Positives: Weight and balance feel great! I love the left side cocking handle. Red dot worked great. 7 round mag worked almost flawlessly (should have bought five, wish it held ten rounds). The gun was decently accurate at 12 yards, I’ll go out to 25 next time.
Negatives: The stock grip is heinous looking and very uncomfortable. The magnet that holds the tray/magazine could be five times stronger and they still could be easily removed. With the front sight removed the barrel profile is hideous.

Overall the gun is a keeper, thanks to you all that brought it to my attention.

Buck Rail makes nice grip stocks and they come with AR-15 grips but the rear plug will show the hook
get some 12MM ID x 15mm OD carbine tubing as a barrel cover and it will look like this
the picture is of a .25 caliber setup and the adapter on the end is on Ebay for a 10mm to 1/2-20
and some Buck rail grip looks
you can see i have been down the Chaser rabbit hole for a while

I have the Buck Rail AR adapter and barrel band coming in the mail. I like the idea of the carbon tubing, curious the best way to get a nice clean cut? I work with fishing rods and the best way to cut those is with a file vs hacksaw. Maybe this is the same? I really like your front sight setup, is that the adapter you are talking about? For a grip I will go with a Hogue, my favorite. Lastly, what do you mean by the rear plug showing the hook? Thanks again for the input.

i have been buying split collars for shafts and if the metric size is even, they work great and than i use a disc sander in a drill and sand to the collar and you get a nice 90 degree end you can find them on Ebay

the picture of the factory rear plug and they can be a SOB to get out the pistol has to come apart, to and bare tube and the rear cap driven out with and piece of tubing
you can see the T.R. Robb rear cap replacement and i have drilled through and tapped through to use a standoff for a spring guide

What about the longer barrel and front sight mounting system???

the longer barrel is a cut down Stormrider barrel length 13inches
the barrel band is a 2 screw that has been cut flat so it is parallel for the carbine tube
the end piece is at Pyramyd Air as well as the globe sight that is needed for the wide dovetail and it takes Anschutz 17.2mm inserts
the front has an Marauder pistol 1/2-20 adapter reworked to fix the muzzle weight
so, you have to have a barrel to cut down, muzzle weight, globe sight and adapter plus the barrel band
2 screw barrel bands are no more, the barrel either Stormrider or Chaser are very hard to find

i cut the barrel with pillow blocks, used 4 flat surface and hot glued them to the surface the hacksaw was used and it rode on one pillow block, barrel was rotated by a drill and it was a cheap lathe but the cut and barrel end clean up is simple

you can see that it isn't cheap but i made the 13 inch barreled pistol in 2020 and have one in both .177 and .22

You are the man, haha! Thanks a ton for all the info, I really appreciate it. The chaser you show complete is basically what I was trying to put together. It’s sad there aren’t as many mods for it as there are for the Crosman. With the generous amount of info you have provided I am hoping to put something together soon. The carbon fiber tubing is already on the way.

the CP2 or Chaser platform are a far better than the Crosman 2240 as a building platform but they seem to have little if any custom parts
imagination and some luck will help the backyard tinkerer the importers of the Snowpeak products have done us no favors because lack of parts
and seller of the guns like Pyramyd Air have done nothing to correct the problem
but i had my first one before 2020 and now i have 6, and as many spares as i could find but what the Canadian stores once had are now gone
and with the change in trigger setup i have no idea how the gun will advance

Though I have been shooting air guns since I was a kid, this foray into customizing them is brand new for me. I was impressed with the hundreds of options for the Crosman so I figured the Diana would be similar but no. I am happy with the chaser and have a few more items to attach, much thanks to you. I also have a 1377 which I have started to mod, this world is fun, haha!

and us builders would have not just one but many here is a shiny one that if i had to remake would be almost 900.00 i call it my Art Project in the picture it is missing itis Swift SRP6266NS pistol scope

stainless parts from Cothran grips are aluminum rings and mount the Swift scope is Nickel
the grip frame is Blue Fork no longer in business the grips are Herrett with a 1911 adapter cost about 250.00

Hi Mike,
Just saw your response. Not avoiding you, haha! I love that scope, it would look great on my nickle boron 10/22 receiver!
