Crosman New Crosman 3622

Nice. I confuse myself over this for sure.

The true answer is the statute which says 177s OR anything shooting uder 700fps are exempted from firearm status. It reads clear to me. Under 700fps? Not a firearm. .177? Not a firearm. Over 700 fps? Maybe, if it isnt ommitted by the first criteria for being a .177. Over .177? Maybe, but it has a second criteria... does it shoot over 700fps or higher? If so, THATS a firearm.

If one of us is dislexic we are f-ed lols

Tell ya what, let's get @mobilemail involved.

he know just about everything on IL air gun laws considering he tired to have the legislation changed for you guys.

Hopefully he responds.
Sidenote, if you're near STL wanna shoot? I'm good driving an hour or two for a hunt or some range time. I'm due to get my 3622 next week and will also have a bullpup I've been creating w my Jet1 donor finished by then.

So for me it reads a 177 over 700 fps is a firearm, and any caliber over .18 regardless of fps.

I know a few members on here are from IL, and they only shoot 177 because of the whole any caliber bigger thing. Hell, paintball and airsoft are illegal there too.

Sure doesn't stop all the criminals from mag dumping their switched blocks though, does it?

Honestly I've had noneffect on you if youre saying paintball and airsoft are illegal. Thats so wrong man we have an airsoft/paintball field in Alton less than a mile from me.
I'm just reading what I'm finding online. I wouldn't know, I don't live over there, and only go to IL if works makes me lol. I'm a proud 2A supporter. Any state that says I'm a felon as soon as I cross their border solely because I have a legal firearm on me, I'm not traveling to or thru, and certainly won't spend my money there.

I feel bad for southern Illinois because of all the arbitrary BS that comes out of Springfield solely based on what happens in Chicago.

People outside the region have no idea how true that is. Chicago people looks at us like a joke, like the crappy eastSTL region is our fault, and treats us like forgotten cousins with mental problems. I'm from halfway between the two cities, near Springfield, and you're right the gradient of attention goes one way... to Chicago.

A guy I work with just recently moved down from Springfield. He grew up in CHI. He is the most anti gun person in our group, still wears a mask in public, and has like 14 kids with 10 different women. He's a whole can of nuts too.

I guess you gotta be bat chit crazy to be with that many baby mamas!

"Firearm" means any device, by whatever name known, which is designed to expel a projectile or projectiles by the action of an explosion, expansion of gas or escape of gas; excluding, however:
(1) any pneumatic gun, spring gun, paint ball gun, or
B-B gun which expels a single globular projectile not exceeding .18 inch in diameter or which has a maximum muzzle velocity of less than 700 feet per second

This is from the IL compiled statues available on the IL site.
Sadly, even more weirdness comes with the use of LESS THAN 700. So if its advertised as a max velocity of 700 that may break the law by 1fps. If advertised as UP TO 700fps this is likely safe by implying it cannot actually break above 700. Stupid stuff. Sorry to waste your time
The actual "Hunting with an Airgun" rules are even more bizarre. lol
