New Discovery LPVO with side focus

Scouty, how did testing go for you comparing the two scopes? And as far as field of view goes, were they both on the same magnification level?

My focus rings on the 2-12 are somewhat tight, but not gritty or possibly dragging. Their's .ore experimenting to go as to whether the turrets will hold up to alot of dialing (which I do when shooting at longer ranges).

I just dropped my SCBA off for hydro testing this afternoon. I've been without air for a while so haven't bothered mounting them. Long story.

I compared FOV at the same magnification. Both at 2x & both at 8x, as I recall & the 1-8x24 was greater at both.

I think I also compared the 2-12x24 to some other scopes I have & found it had a good FOV as well, just not as much as the 1-8x24.

I'll do a quick repeat tomorrow morning if I have time.

I very quickly compared the Discovery 1-8x24 & 2-12x24 as well as an Athlon 1-8x24, Vector 3-12x44 & a Dedal Stalker 6x.

I will note that when the Dedal was released it was marketed as having a massive FOV.

In order of greatest FOV to lowest with all at 6x:

Discovery 1-8x24

Athlon BTR Gen2 1-8x24

Vector Veyron 3-12x44

Discovery 2-12x24

Dedal Stalker 6x

Also, it is overcast but with a fresh layer of snow here today. Looking at native grass poking above the snow, the reticle on the 2-12x24 is visible across the entire magnification range. For a 6x erector I'm really happy with this reticle. If I were to nitpick a bit, I would point out the hash marks are not visible to my eyes at 3x which is what I prefer to use for close range rabbits which sometimes require holdover. But that's unique to my eyes & shooting conditions.

The Veyron is useful from 6x & up & even then I wouldn't shoot a rabbit at 6x under today's coconditions. It's just too thin.

The Discovery 1-8x24 is rabbit worthy at 3x & above. I would plink at 1x with it but would not hunt with it at 1x, even if illuminated. Same issue with holdover hashes, however.
