new fiber optic fixed sights!

since I trimmed and re crowned my barrel, a new option for fixed sights was needed.

I had thought about buying the daisy muzzle weight with globe sight and boring out the weight for my barrel. but then I was looking for some hardware for another project in my bins of random stuff. I found some old firing pin cleaning heads, along with some fiber sight inserts and an old $5 crosman red dot sight.

I tore the crosman apart to get the dove tail perch, then measured and drilled for my factory rear sight. I sliced the tip off the cleaning head, drilled a hole where it was and dropped in the fiber insert. The newly made front sight screwed right into the front screw hole for the factory rear sight.

I sighted in quick and it's still as accurate as ever. very happy with the results for a "free" mod.

That's a great idea; you may want to increase the sight radius by moving the front sight as far out along the barrel as you can. With your technical skills you will probably find it easy to fashion a barrel band out of some sort of plastic and then use the same front sight. Though the inherent accuracy of the rifle is always the same, a longer sight radius will make aiming a lot more precise.
