New freedom 10 arrived

i decided on the Freedom 10, it’s a little more than the Chinese ones, but it’s US made, and very user serviceable....I’ve waited a long time to pull the trigger and I’m happy with my decision ...

got it yesterday, did all the pre things, and this morning I started it up,,,my 88cu ft was at 3700psi, and my intentions are to start at this point and charge to 4500, as needed...I am an old retired guy, so no rush to race it back to 4500....it took 16 minutes to fill from 37 to 4K...I can certainly live with that...I had 1 minor issue...the compressor shut off at 41, and I thought it broke already.....turns out, the pressure switch was set low...I gave it a little more and am waiting to see where I am now.

anyway, US made, easily serviceable, and plenty of support...

the dryer I’m using is a dessicant on the output of the shop compressor....

these compressors might have fallen in disfavor a little bit because of the Yong hen and the rest, but if you’re not in a giant hurry, consider this...it’s 500,and comes with a couple of extra rebuild oring kits...

Update...I filled to 4500, no muss, no fuss...I’m guessing a little over an hour actual run time. I stopped and started it several times to adjust the pressure switch and you have to bleed it down each time...my shop compressor ran 2 or 3 times during the whole fill, so it just sips the 120psi air...

I have had a Freedom 8 for a few years now and it is easy enough to rebuild. Rebuilt mine twice so far. I just had an issue with it last week, contacted Tom and he aided me in the resolve. Ordered some minor parts on Friday, had them on Monday. And yes, they are made in USA.

Highly recommend Shoebox (no affiliation either). Freedom 10 is supposed to be even faster too. Did I mention that they are made in USA?

I bought the Freedom 10 back in the winter. I have used it once and I was amazed how fast it fill my tank. I don't remember the psi I started with or where I ended up but I posted it here and you can do a search. It worked great. I also bought t because it was American made and something the end user can rebuild for little cost.

Ran my Freddom 10 again today. My Tiger Shark tank was at 3200 psi. I ran it for an hour and 9 minutes and the filled stopped at 4350psi. For me that perfect. Just plug it in and walk away for an hour or two. When you don't hear it running just go unkook everything and put it away.

Only issue with the freedom 10 that kept me from buying it, is that you need a normal 100psi air compressor along side it. So the term "freedom" is not accurate. You are "forced" to buy another air compressor. Much better in my opinion just to save up for a standalone compressor.

I concur. I have once considered buying a shoebox because I have got a shop compressor already . Unfortunately the shoebox has some requirement on the capability of first-stage compressor and that of mine is not powerful enough for the purpose. There is no point for me to buy another compressor just to serve the shoebox. Its not just money but also the availability of space . For me the YH is a no brainer.

I agree that it’s inconvenient for some to use another compressor...I have a great shop and I use air, so it was an easy choice for me...on the other hand, I don’t need to get a bucket of water to cool either compressor,and fiddle with that...Atent we lucky to have so many choices!

Gratzz on the f10 .I have the f8 and love it ,I also have 10 full rebuild kits for it if I ever need it.

USA made easily serviceable and the customer service is great.

Having a normal air compressor is not a bad thing to have. Most people have one but if you don't there are plenty of uses besides the first stage compressor for a shoebox.

Have the F10. I run the shop compressor into a Wilkerson desiccant filter then through a water/oil separator and 10 micron filter before going into the F10. I guess it works...as i recently opened up my Mrod and Prod to install Hill valves...ran a lint free rag through the tube with no evidence of water or gook. I like the simplicity of the F10....i bought about a year+ before the price drop. The lower price should make it very appealing.

I've gotten real tired of hand pumping - its dictating just how much (how little...) shooting I'm doing! Freedom 10 appears to be best solution for me but I already have a large compressor, unfortunately its an oil lube type not oil less as specified for the Shoebox compressors. My current compressor has a water trap on the output line right before the hose connection with a clear sight glass and I've never seen anything in the trap no matter how hard I've run the compressor. I used to do a lot of sand and bead blasting which runs the compressor 100% of the time for hours at a time. Compressor is on a 20 gallon tank which does accumulate a fair amount of oily water and I suspect the size of the tank has a lot to do with why I've never seen anything in the line trap.

Is every body religiously using an oil less compressor or is this one of those things that's driven by lawyers and potential damage lawsuits if an explosion were to take place? I'm in a real pinch for space and I hate to buy another compressor that will only be run when I'm using the Shoebox...

There is no requirement to use an oilless drive compressor for the Altaros booster pump. Any compressor, as long as it can supply constant pressure between 5-10 bar, is suitable.
