New FX .25 SLUG liner now apparently 1:16 twist rate.

Has anyone tried the new FX .25 heavy or slug liner they seem to be 1:16 twist rate now.
There were problems with the 1:18 twist rate and now FX have come out with this new one.
Are we the consumer doing the R&D for FX??

Slug shooting is still in it's infancy, really. Manufacturers are experimenting and adapting. Shooters are experimenting and adapting.

I have to disagree to a degree, slug are relatively new to airguns/airguners but barrel making, twist rate and bullet technology go back centuries. Ever since superior and superior heavy liners came out I have had nothing but great results. Biggest challenge is most guns out there besides FX can’t be tuned easily so their results are poor most of the time. Then most FX users don’t quite know how to tune for slugs or still use pellet tuning approach which also have poor results.

I’ve shot just about every weight/size slugs from NSA in 177, 22 and 25, I have yet to find a slug I could not shoot well. Well as in MOA at 100 yards.

This is no different than PB, it always takes quite a few loads to find a good load that would shoot 1/2 MOA. Then again most PBers don’t reload which explains the lack of understanding when tuning.

So how do you tune for slugs?

I tune my guns to highest possible reg pressure with lowest possible hammer weight and force, given the hammer weight and reg pressure are balanced/matched. The approach is shortest possible dwell for the barrel length to achieve the desired power/speed.

High reg pressure is apparently very scary and people are deathly afraid of it. Because you know, everyone brings the lowest horsepower engines with best mpg to a drag race. :ROFLMAO:

Hell yeah!!! Now when FX makes a front bottled Panthera with rail under the bottle with the 1:16 TR liner to shoot the long Altaro slugs............oh my! 🔥 🔥 🔥
But, the Altaros 49.5 grain in .25 caliber don’t need high speed or high reg pressure to shoot accurately. I shoot them just under 900fps and with 132 bar reg pressure. Gives me 22 ish shots per 250 bar fill in my 600mm Panthera. I bought it 3 or 4 months ago, not sure which twist barrel is in it. And with a G1 BC of 0.21, that’s hard to beat!

I'm still waiting on this new 1:16 700 liner to show up. Anybody in the states get one yet? And from where?

Then again throwing another couple $100 bills at a liner and more slugs kind of gets tiring! 🙄

I wish fx and the dealers would list the twist rate of the liner being sold. It would make things a little easier for us to know what we are getting. Anyone else notice the same exact part number 20659 being used?

I contacted Utah Airguns yesterday asking how to get a .25 STX SLUG liner TR 1:16 700mm. They said to order a Superior Heavy Liner and you will receive the new slug liner.
They also said they receive shipments from FX every week.
I also wish dealers would have exactly what you are ordering on their website !

Yeah but does that mean you will get a 1:16 stx slug liner? Sometimes sales will say what you want to hear, at the same time they have no idea what you are talking about. When you get yours please check and report as I would like a 1:16
