FX New FX m4 question ( new to PCP )

Hey guys

Just got my new FX impact M4 and started shooting for the first time…. Had some questions you guys might be able to answer

Gun specs
FX M4 700 .30
JSB diabolo exact .30 44.75gr

Questions:
1. When the gun is uncocked I can barely turn the fine adjustment screw up or down it is crazy stiff and takes all the effort I can to move it…. The macro adjustment moves fine and the setting it around 4 and still hard to move the micro

2. I notice shoot g the .30 pellets that they shoot pretty consistent around 900-905 but if I wait about 30-60 seconds in between shots the FPS hits down to like 880-890

3. What do you guys prefer to zero your scope at right now it’s at 35 but not sure if that is good or not

4. What FPS do you shoot .30 pellets at usually

You can only adjust the gun when it's not cock. If it's hard it needs break in. As for lower shots, that is normal for the impact. Mine will get about 20-30 fps slower till it goes back to normal. I own the .25 cal and I shoot it around 930 fps. With pellets anything from 880 to 950 should be good. You do not need to go 1000 fps cause you see youtubers doing it. I zero my gun 50 yards.

Sounds like the reg is taking time to refresh such that a quick follow up shot is at a lower pressure. It should break in but your tune needs to be a bit more resistant to that effect. A digital gauge would give you a sense of the refresh time. Clicking up on the micro should reduce the difference in speed by getting the hammer nearer to the plateau where pressure change is less influential.

I found a few times when I cycled the action I went to pull the trigger and nothing happened. I then cycled the action (which loaded another pellet) and the rifle sent two pellets.
This happened maybe 3 times.
After I cottoned onto what was happening I would pull the lever back. Settle onto a
New target aiming mark and then push it forward.
After this no fails to fire and no double loads.
Was I cycling the action too quickly?
Can anyone shed some light on what was going on?

easy to double load if you dont fully cock the gun

If it happen again next time, don't re-cock it twice to double load, you can pull the cocking level all the way back(it won't have resistance since the hammer spring already cocked).....take out the magazine to prevent double loading, then push the pallet probe back in to see if it would fire (your already have one round in the chamber), If the trigger still won't fire, de-cock and re-cock it again while the round still in there, then put the mag back in after that round got sent off.

You didn't adjust the trigger when you received the gun right?

Thanks for the feedback. It seems a common theme that I wasn’t cocking it back far enough I didn’t touch a single setting or the trigger. Just took it out of the case, put a scope on, loaded it and tested it. I figured I was doing something wrong, and realised how to stop the double loads (exactly as per your description). I will pay more attention to cocking it when I take it out next week.

the Micro wheel is quite stiff when it's brand new, mine was like that as well, note down where the stock setting is at, then use your thumb to push it all the way up (max at 4.5 before it get real stiff), then all the way back down, roll it a few times, going to take some time to break in, if you want to speed up the process you could use a tooth pick to apply tiny bit of lithium grease on the thread that the micro wheel was riding on.

Same goes for your velocity shift, brand new gun take some time for the valve, hammer spring and reg to break in and stabilize.

Zeroing the scope is really depending on what is the max distance you most often shoot at, usually half of it is a good middle ground. Personally, i used mine in close quarter backyard pesting and plinking. example: absolutely make no sense for me to zero it for 40 yard or even 30 yard when the gun would spend 99% of the time shooting at 20 yard.

you won't know how accurate it is until you shoot it, try 880fps to start with and go up 20fps at a time to see if there's any improvement to be had. Dial in your scope according to the distance you shoot at, the setting isn't set in stone nor should it be permanent when you would shoot at various distances all the time, unless of course you want to just set it and forget if you preferred to use hold over or hold under to compensate.
