I just ordered a FX MKIII in .30. Is there anything yall would recommend I do when I get it? Any pellet suggestions? Tuning? Ect ect....
clean the barrel, shoot 300 pellet of something like H&N exact before u even turn anything - took mine(.22) about 300 shots to settle
take picture/write down factory settings
buy double the amount of pellets u thought u wanted
lots of info on tunes in the tuning part of the forum, good utube clips as well around
main thing just shoot it before u start playing around- factory tune stacks pellets on top of each other at 40m

Agree with all the "positive" 😁 input that has been posted here. Just shoot it and enjoy it. No need to stress out about whether it's "shooting this way or that, perfectly". Get a feel for where it is tuned from FX in your environment and learn from it's feedback, keeping track of your findings... I have a sneaking suspicion that FX has it tuned darn good right out of the box 😉 Both my MKII and M3 are very efficient and accurate when set to the factory settings...When I set them there 🤫
Have fun.

from reading other post's i get the impression that many problems are self induced . Tinkering
avoid unnecessary expensive gadgets. just get a good scope, and not too expensive, practice shooting with same brand pellets as they all perform differently. keep it under control and not get sucked into the "best brand" trap which can be costly and a waste of money for the average back yard shooter.

Realize this is an older thread but I’ll post for others like me who hunt for ideas.

1) Get a decent optic with good tracking & mount it level. Watch Cyclops’s videos on YouTube. I put a spirit level on mine to hold it level when shooting.
2) Start with a few varieties of good PELLETS shooting 50 yards or closer. Pellets are self stabilizing though don’t buck the wind as well as slugs. I started at 50 feet in my shop in zero wind. Accuracy & power difference over my break barrel was immediately noticeable. Moved to 50 yards and was still smiling.
3) Get a chronograph when you want to start tuning. Write down your projectile, settings, velocity averages, extreme spreads, group size results, etc. since there can be a lot to keep track of. I’ll test diabolos anywhere from 870 to 990 FPS and slugs between 920 & 1020 FPS.
4) Move to slugs when you’re happy with pellet performance. If I’m planning on shooting 60 yards or less I’ll pick a diabolo, anything farther will be slugs. Have a party when you get some MOA groups at 100 yards!
5) Get StrelokPro and a rangefinder for field work ‘cause with a trajectory like a rainbow you’ll need to know distance to target and how to adjust/ hold over.

Enjoy!
