New gun case

I have a FX Impact M3 700mm. It does not fit in the FX gun case with the moderator installed. I need a 42 inch inside dimension. 

What is the best hard side case to replace the FX case? I don’t want the pluck foam. I like the custom cut type foam. Thanks

Pelican would have just about anything. They are extremely nice and well worth the price in my mind. If that is to much could look at Plano makes a few that mimic the pelican

Pelican Storm Case im3200 is what you want. It’s the longer version of the im3100. I have both. The 3100 fits in the trunk of my hatchback so I use it and remove my moderator when packing up the gun. The 3200 fits with the moderator. Then get your foam made by www.GunFoam.com they do great work.

I would venture to say that 99% of us just remove our moderators when we put our rifles in the case.

Although that is not acceptable once you have the new Barrel Tuner installed. As removing and replacing it would affect the harmonics of the the gun.

So, I will be keeping an eye on this thread,

That’s my issue. I have the new harmonic tuner with a 700 barrel. The gun does not fit in the case anymore. Thank you for all the ideas. I have a Pelican 1720 and I don’t like it because it’s just way too heavy.


Negrini seems to be a good option. I want to look at the Vault and see if is a lighter version of the Pelican.

Plano All Weather 2 case has 49" of usable inside length and is 52" outside. It has wheels. Fits my RAW Chassis easily. Got mine off of amazon, about 120ish with pick and pluck foam.

I have one Vault hard case and fits the 700mm Impact with harmonic tuner and extended butt stock attached.

TMSFan, did you find a new case? if so what condition is your original case? I would be interested in it depending on price, believe it or not my new puppy ate the foam out of my m3 sniper case last weekend when I was out shooting.

I was going to go with a Negrini case since they make the FX cases. I was ok with the 189,00 price but at checkout, they wanted 40,00 to ship the case from Arkansas to Texas. So I backed out of the Negrini. 
I went with a 42” Plano from Amazon Prime. The case was shipped directly from Plano and it arrived in perfect condition.
I traded out the terrible pluck foam for Kaizen foam. I’m in the case under 140.00 and the Impact 700mm fits perfectly. 
I and going to use the extra case for a FX Wildcat I have.

Buy some Kaizen foam off Amazon to replace your foam the dog ate.
You can get a piece for 36.00 that is enough to replace the whole inside of your FX Negrini case. It’s very easy to cut with an exact-o knife.

Sure would be nice if we could send someone like Gunfoam.com I video of your case and the layout you want and cut it. I have a FX M3 Sniper with all the Saber Tactical goodie’s, 3 mags, Accu-tec bipod, FX Chronograph, and a Leupold rangefinder in my case.

How hard was it to be accurate with the foam? Going through the photos now and I really don't want to mess up a $200 block of foam!

Not hard. Just pay attention to what you are doing and you’ll be fine. If you’re worried about it, give Delion a call. He works at GunFoam.com and was very helpful. I must have gone through at least 10 revisions before I was satisfied with where I’d placed everything.
