New guy in Kentucky

Good morning, new guy here!

I got a call Saturday from a gentleman at AOA stating that the HW97K Walnut .22 I ordered was in! Less than a couple weeks has passed since having my name put on a list.

Now I need to get off the fence and order a scope and rings for it so I can shoot the dern thing when it comes in.

I’ve read many posts about both medium and tall rings being used according to how one’s cheek/face mates to the stock. How the gun fits to you. I’m thinking I should buy one of each when I order the scope to have the best chance of proper fitment.

Also, I’ve been buying the senior fishing license for the past few years and never once realized it was also a hunting license all rolled into one. So squirrel’s are covered!

Anyway, I’m happy to have found a forum with such knowledgeable members. Information gleaned here has helped in my purchasing decision(s).

Happy to be here.

Make sure you buy a springer rated - Hawkes are great

I'm not sure who makes moa adjustable dovetail mounts, but that is the way to go.
I wound up modifying a set of West Hunter height adjustable rings into moa adjustable for mine.
You could use those West Hunter hight adjustable rings now and have the option to modify them later?

Welcome to the best AGN ! Your about 80 miles north of me (Scottsville KY ) The HW97 is a wonderful shooter , you started out with the best !
I have a 97 also i find the H&N 8.44 Field Target trophy shoot very well , but i have never tried anything heavier like the JSB line of pellets . do you have a place to shoot at home ?

And how can you tell if it's springer rated? I'm looking at the Vantage 3x9x40 AO at the moment.

We've got a decent sized back yard that butts up to some woods. I'm not planning on shooting very far, say 25 yards. Just squirrels and maybe a rabbit sometime.

ok i have to ask ? why a .30 if only 25 yard or even 50 yards ? that .30 travels a long long way AND those pellets are $$$ , slugs even more $$ .

We were not very far away from you last week when we were at the Corvette museum!
