HW/Weihrauch New HW97K .177 Accuracy

People over exaggerate how heavy some guns are. I'm 5'7", 160lbs and my 97K is around 14lbs all scoped up for FT use. Not once has the weight given me an issue. If I was shooting it standing all day that would be different but I'm not and neither are most people

I'm right with you stature wise and agree one hundred per cent with your
statement.I used to carry an eleven pound model 70 hunting and put on many miles a day. Not once did I even think about it. So when I hear people complaining about a heavy air gun and walking a mile I just giggle...

But I am with you on a very heavy offhand rifle.I have a 15 pound .22 Schuetzen and it's really hard for me to get through a match with my older back.

I've always carried 10 lb centerfires, and hunted hard with them in the big hills of southern Ohio with no problem. My 77K is 11lbs setup for hunting and is in no way to much weight. But a lot of that is in the way its so balanced, the weight is displaced perfectly.

BUT! I just purchased a HW50s, and up till now my lightest springer has been a tuned 2K model 34 diana. At 8.4 lbs to me was nice, but no big deal using the 77K. Then when the 50s came into the picture,,,, this is a gun that makes you want to stalk! At 7.7 lbs it changes the way you consider heavy!

I'm just starting to work with it, and off hand holding same poi is a paramount factor in a hunting gun. Well see if it can do as well as the other two. As of now, this is what makes the 77K such a great hunting rifle for me, it's ability to shoot off hand using a natural rest from whatever is available in the field and use the spa to hit the same poi.

But man, the light compact ease of carry becomes very obvious when you get down around the 7.5 pound mark, it really changes the thought when you consider the ease of 3.5 pounds less with 3" shorter length, it takes on a new meaning of a pleasure to carry all day, That is not how ever described those guns over 8lbs and 11 lbs was always dowable, but I can't honestly say was a pleasure.!

Now you know what I talk about. My Hw50 is 7 lbs flat because I use an 11 oz fixed power non AO scope. It's my best handling rifle and the only one I take into the woods. Can I carry a heavier gun? Sure but why would I of I don't have to? The 50 is the Goldilocks Weihrauch. It's just right.

Like I said before it gets priority status, I'm going to have to get it to shoot as good offhand as the 77K does. Or the middle choice the R10. The R10 is the most forgiving 177 I own, and the most accurate. But with a complete HO tune from J.T. that goes unsaid. I'll give a little accuracy, and don't need 15.5 fpe for squirrel.

The 11.8 fpe will work, but gotta get it to quit shooting low left 3/8" at 20 yards when I take it off the bench. We'll get there but gotta find what it likes, just like with a fine woman, they gotta be held their way!! Once you do that the dividends pay off!
