Greetings All, I’m on the research phase towards Air rifle ownership. I have my sight on the Fx dreamline tactical compact mainly for backyard plinking. I live in NJ as I was reading It says that air rifle is not considered a rifle but still a firearm and we need FID to purchase and Ffl if buying online. Does this mean my air rifle can have shorter barrel, can have more than 10 rounds? If anybody from NJ can help me out I thank you in advance. Al

I would be very careful in NJ with any airguns. First off - moderators for airguns are strictly illegal in NJ. Also - yes, in NJ an airgun is viewed as a firearm and must follow all the rules of a firearm. Most importantly - you can get arrested for discharging a firearm in your backyard.

Airguns is one area where NJ is more draconian than CA. Please research the laws and stay out of trouble.
