HW/Weihrauch New look for an old friend.

First the people on this forum are wonderfully generous. I've been toying with the idea of knocking the comb down on my dearest most used rifle. My first Hw30 from 2016. I call it my "Baby" BB gun because of its size and adoration. For sentimental reasons I didn't want to experiment with the original stock so I was asking around for a beater take off to try.
Enter @maxtrouble. Out of nowhere he unsolicitedly sent me a brand new take off stock. It was such perfect condition I couldn't take a belt sander to it. Instead I swapped it with the dented stock on my wife's Hw30.

I belt sanded the comb to where it fit me and sent it to a friend here, @Bear-of-Grayling. He stripped it refinished to this gorgeous finish. Which wasn't easy. He turned the thing around in week without discussing payment. I'm very grateful that the people here are so kind and generous. Now my "Baby" has a new much nicer and better fitting stock with more sentimental value than the original. Thank you guys!

Be well,
Ron

Ps; look how worn the original butt pad is. This rifle is well loved!

The new finnish looks really good and of course it will be more comfortable to shoot with the lowered comb.

I have an HW95 fitted with a Williams peep sight. I also have been considering sanding down the comb for a better fit. Doing that would be the perfect excuse to give the stock a dark walnut finnish.

Very nice , and wonderful work B.O.G. I personally like the slightly dinged or a bit beat up older guns .

@Mycapt65 - Looks better than original! I am glad the donor stock is getting good use. It was going to sit in my basement. Much better to know someone is getting good use out of it.

@Bear-of-Grayling - Heckin' nice refinish job. Looks damn fine and that is not an easy task on a beech stock. Well done!

Thank you everyone. Very decent of you “maxtrouble“ to donate the stock to Mr. Ron. Mr. Ron deserves this. He has done so much for this group. We are all indebted to him and others as well. Now your favorite airgun has story attached to it. Congratulations!

What is that rear sight, I would like to try one vs the Williams

That's the base model stock. My first Weihrauch was a $299 AoA special and came with that stock and a fixed front sight. Years later I messed up refinishing mine so I bought a Luxus stock for it. I tried using irons with that stock and it was unusable for me. I didn't have any trouble with open sights with the original (same as yours). Then again I shot this 30 probably 60 thousand times and didn't have a problem until I just recently tried a better fitting stock.

Your stock finish probably predates the new difficult to remove finishes. I stripped and bleached mine and refinished it with a spray strain. I eventually got it worked out ok but it looks VERY AMATEUR. I shouldn't be allowed to touch wood 😅. That's why I sent this one to BOG.

Best of luck with yours.
Ron

It's a Tech Sight, I love it. I had two sets Williams on the two different rifles and I like these much more. They're marketed for powder burners. I did a detailed evaluation on another forum. Google Weihrauch peep sight alternative, Bayman and it should come up.
