As the title says, new member here. Wanting opinions on the AF Texan vs. AEA Element Max? I plan to get a .457 as that's what I have casting molds and equipment for. I am leaning towards the AEA mostly for looks and weight.
I've had a Texan .457 for almost 4 years now. Did have to get a replacement tank valve as soon as it arrived under warranty, had it in 3 days after a short and pleasant phone call. Not a single issue afterwards and I don't know how many hundreds of rounds fired out of it. Only thing I'd recommend but haven't done myself yet. Put it in a stock or rigid chassis as they are prone to flexing if shouldered too firmly. Make sure you have a reliable source of air, these are hungry. And do the maintenance on them.
Big calibers are not me, but really AEA do not do much for me, i pretty much see them as entry level stuff. Now a Texan that i cosider a whole other ballgame.
Never owned either one, but do have an Airforce TalonP. Just based on the quality and performance of it, I would lean towards the Texan. In fact, A Texan is on my wish list, but in .257, not one of the big bores.
